Hopefully some one here can help me,

A few months ago my Father in Law was in town and wanted to go to a buffet for Prime Rib. My wife and I rarely eat at buffets and I thought all buffets had Prime Rib. We went to Sunset Station and were disappointed because they did not have Prime Rib for him.

What are some inexpensive buffets that regularly have Prime Rib. He will be back in town soon and I don't want to disappoint him again.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Prime rib is very expensive and if
they do have it, it's often the
shoe leather cut that takes 5 min
to chew.

Main Street Station has prime rib on their dinner buffet on Saturdays and Tuesdays. $16.99 with their lowest level players card.

I don't remember ever getting
prime rib is any buffet that
first, wasn't PR at all, and second,
was nothing like the real PR
you get in a regular restaurant.
Most people are clueless when
it comes to cuts of beef, tell
them it's PR and they will
believe it.

Yeah, you don't say. I was at a steakhouse in Texas years ago, neat place with an adult slide. But anyhow, a woman ordered prime rib amd when it came she gagged at how it looked. Server offered to replace it with something else and suggested ribeye. I had to tell her that ribeye is the exact same cut, just cooked different.

I forget how it got resolved, but come on.

I ate there on one of my recent trips.

I'd avoid it. MSS's buffet is much better for the same price point.

What you usually get is what’s called “steamship round”, which is round roast cut thin and against the grain to keep it toothsome. When done properly it it still pretty good, but it isn’t a rib roast.

Thin? Most of the Prime Ribs I've had are about an inch thick and a good inch of fat on the steak.

MSS: quite a bargain still even though I've heard there is no longer a piano and fewer upholster chairs on the mezzanine level.

Yup, it's a big rump roast passed off
as 'prime rib'. Even wholesale PR
is at least $12 a pound, hard to make
money at a buffet. In fact, I don't
think I've ever seen real PR at any
buffet that was under $30.

Perhaps it is an excuse to get you to take the horseradish and they recoup everything by selling you a zillion Bloody Mary's to douse the fire in your throat.

Harrah's in Laughling (Fresh Market Square Buffet) have Saturday Steak nights. The rest of the buffet is ehhh, but they no-kidding have real-deal prime ribs which tasted better than Lawry's which surprised me. You have to ask for center cut when it comes out fresh.
