Quote: chickenmanNah, you do a good (even excellent) job under adverse circumstances, Pierce. Kinda like herding cats. Looks to me like many believe you are over thinking this though. This isn't a college debate team, people are mostly expressing opinions and bantering and not in many cases proposing anything resembling logical arguments. Way overboard sometimes? Sure, then deal with the somewhat rare occurrences, don't make it harder than it needs to be...
I appreciate the compliment, thank you!
I may be overthinking it, to an extent, but the current state of affairs on the Forum is not acceptable. We must either go more strict or less in order to change the ambiguity that persists, and less strict is not a viable option, in my opinion.
Quote: sodawaterI would like to ask why "HotBlonde" has been suspended 7 days for a personal insult, when this is her third suspension.
Whereas my first and only suspension was for 7 days for the same offense of personal insult.
According to the "martingale policy," shouldn't "HotBlonde" be suspended for 28 days, if a first offense for a personal insult gets a 7-day suspension?
Time since last Suspension as a mitigating factor, and Martingale would be 14 days, not 28. I also took the seriousness of the insult into consideration, in this case, and find that it is just on the outside of being pursuant to the S&W standard.
Wouldn't it be nice if all personal insults were equally disallowed and all ban lengths would be the same as I would not have to weigh a bunch of subjective garbage? Just askin'.
You know? Because no matter what I do, someone thinks I absolutely suck at this.
Quote:Also, is it not forum policy to consider the positives a member adds when evaluating suspensions? How could "HotBlonde" gain anything in this area when she never posts anything on the topic of gambling, and most of her posts seem to be geared toward gaining unearned attention and manufacturing unnecessary drama?
I trust these are appropriate questions to ask, considering this is the "discussion about the suspension list" thread.
That is a, "Policy," that can be implemented on a case-by-case basis along with severity of the insult. HotBlonde's perceived value to the Forum, from my perspective, was not a mitigating factor in determining the length of the ban, it was the relative softness of the insult while still not being within the confines of S&W.
My first suspension was for 7 days, for insulting "HotBlonde," coincidentally. Now "HotBlonde" has now been suspended three times. 7 * 2 * 2 = 28. "HotBlonde" got a 3-day suspension the same week in the same thread I got my 7-day suspension. So it looks the mods were holding her to a different standard from the very beginning.Quote: Mission146Martingale would be 14 days, not 28.
Quote: Mission146it was the relative softness of the insult
I agree, "HotBlonde" saying someone is "not a nice guy. Period," is a relatively soft insult, compared to:
Quote: HotBlondeAll you guys look for is women you want to fuck and to be honest with you most of her type of women wouldn't even want your sorry asses in the first place.
or
Quote: HotBlondeshows just how reprehensible, as the Wizard put it, you guys are
Both the above are much more offensive personal attacks than the soft insult for which she got suspended.
I would also argue that the most serious offense in her recent posts would be trolling, by saying something self effacing and then acting indignant when someone agreed with her.
In any event, my vote would be that no one get suspended for any personal insults. But if we are going to have a rule it should be applied equally to everyone.
It's abundantly clear that the rules are not being as strictly applied to "HotBlonde" as they are to other members of the forum, including me.
Mike's house, Mike's rules.

So, you're saying a lot of guys in thread regularly date models, and aren't much interested in f******g. Because then it would be more true than an insult.
I've never really seen SOOPOO really act up (not really at all) on the forum to the point where I could begin to call him out for it. So, it's impossible for me to assess it as true. (Maybe it's true outside) but I can only go on what I've seen here. So, that is more of an insult AFAIK.
Quote: onenickelmiracleNo argument besides I don't think saying someone isn't nice or is a jerk is an insult if it applies. I called someone a jerk somewhere else once and was surprised at the reaction like it was some kind of slur. He was too which wasn't fair to not be able to name him as being so. I guess saying someone isn't a nice person is ok as long as it has been documented.
My favor insult at AT&T was calling an empty suit a JERK. They got just as mad as if I called him an assh+++.
Give it up. You might be right, but you wont win this argument. Its obvious women have more value to the site then men do, rare things often have more value. The Wizard has already stated how he feels women should be treated. If you think there is a double standard when it comes to women watch what you say to them or just don't interact with them.Quote: sodawaterMy first suspension was for 7 days, for insulting "HotBlonde," coincidentally. for some reason I didn't think the word jerk really went outside of western PA. Maybe I am thinking of another word.
