Quote: RomesIf KJ got banned because Norm complained to Mike or something that would be very, very political BS.
I first hand have experienced the resistance of the "resident heroes" on Norms site... Whom just try to correct anything anyone posts if it's not theirs. They don't seem to understand we're not competing with each other, but TRYING TO MAKE EACH OTHER BETTER.
KJ seemed to let this get to him a bit too much, but he's a great poster, player, etc. If he's banned here because of crap from that site, I would certainly re-evaluate my belonging to this site.
Totally agree KJ is one of the best posters on this site. I can't see what he did to get suspended? Read his posts and everything seemed ok.

There was a behind the scenes truce he violated. In keeping with the the terms of the agreement, action had to be taken.
This was by no means a reflection of KJ's overall value as a member, which I consider very high. However, we mods try to avoid favoritism as much as we can.
The offending post was busted.
I'd suspect it was something said from a while ago that just recently got dug up....or something that got deleted.
Maybe what he said has now disappeared, that happens. Maybe we should all be posting from protected IPhones. I heard they were harder to crack ;-)Quote: RomesNo, it says he's suspended for 3 days now for a "truce violation." I too didn't find anything he said to be over the top or to cross any lines.

Yes, he is. Even when your positions are opposite those of his, he is respectful, thoughtful and doesn't resort to name calling.

You could do a lot worse. Truman was legally blind in his left eye. Passed the medical exam to enlist in WW1 by memorizing the eye chart. Plus as President he was not burdened by a college degree.

Truman, with no college, and no law
degree, was elected a judge and later
was voted into the Senate. Smart guy
farm boy.

I am very surprised
The Wiz mentioned that he violated a behind the scenes truce
ok
Going through some of his recent posts
I cant even fathom a possible truce violation.
Then again I don't know what the truce involved
Really weird.
Oh well, hope he comes back.

People agree not to have discussions with each other -- or suffer some consequence.
I assume Kewj agreed to something he ignored -- might have little to do with anything other than violating a communication.
Again, no big deal, sounds like. Unless the ban was based on a misunderstanding, but we'll here about that probably in 3 days, if so.
Quote: DMSCRAnything can happen here and one can get banished for many other ways beyond the terms of service. What would be funny is if Zuga bans the Wiz for three days. Imagine that! Mod mutiny!
Hmm, tiny shout out to 1bb who did try to play Zuga against the Wizard. 1bb on the perm ban list.
Not saying that was it, but could be.

The Wizard said he busted the post. I.e. the post was removed. So he said something that probably would have been obvious if it remained visible, but it's not.
Follow this link 'here' to my conspiracy theory website where all is revealed, then some.

Just sayin'. ,-)

Hahaha... I didn't pay much attention. So that was why 1BB was banned? LOL.
No. That wouldn't be funny.
If this ever happens even though the probability is small it has to happen ORGANICALLY without any outside interference and influence.
leave the forum over this incident. You can send
PM's to people who are suspended. I sent him
one telling him how valuable he is around here.
The rest of you should do the same. It would be
a real and hard felt loss if Kewlj wasn't here
anymore. He's one of the few working sharing
card counters that we have here. His posts are
always well thought out and interesting. I would
miss him a lot.

I'm not going to PM him when I can say right here in public that I miss his commentary, I respect him as a member, and that I hope he comes back.
I don't know much about the whole "truce" thing but I've not seem him do anything I would consider bad for a long time, if ever,

I am going to have to be ALOT more careful with my posts.
I honestly thought DMSCR was making a joke about the OP being pretty silly in terms of a legitimate complaint and compared it to Zuckerman having a hissy while addressing the Facebook staff about altering the writing on the wall. Did any of you see the picture of that wall in the attachment (seperate topic, girl writing on the wall had a cute butt).
Maybe I was wrong, but I think later posts (jokes) in the same thread by DMSCR support my thought.
I feel sure Mike hadn't gotten to those posts farther along in the thread yet.
I'm sure he will survive 3 days ;-) Hopefully he will laugh about the whole affair, I suspect he will.
Just 2F
<edit> I don't think he was trying to stir up any racial tension, but a curry lover AND a Bacc player, you never know ;-)
Thanks to my blackjack/AP buddies Romes and RS for having my back here and elsewhere, even when they didn't agree with me 100%. Romes, please don't re-evaluate your membership here on my behalf. The newer BJ enthusiasts that pop up here need someone like you that can give them a straight answer and good advice. God knows they won't find it elsewhere on the internet.
Unfortunately, I am not going to be able to continue to participate here with the restrictions that Mike has placed on me. I have a lot of respect for Mike, but I don't understand and am disappointed in this decision.
I had prepared a longer response as to why I disagreed with both the suspension, as well as the restrictions placed on me. but Mike has informed me that I will not be allowed to post that either. Apparently even in a thread entitled “Discussion about the suspension list”, I am not allowed to discuss my suspension. Again, this is puzzling.
I will miss the interactions with many members here and wish all my friends here success and more importantly....happiness in life.
I am sad that two reasonable people could not come to a reasonable resolution, but I am not surprised. I'm not gonna toss up my arms and protest a la 1BB but it seems like one of the most reasonable folks here is being sent away and the result will not be a plus for this community. No, we won't fold or anything; we'll just have one less active poster who has posted a whole lot of interesting analysis and comments here.
I wish you the same as you wished us...happiness in life.
Thank you, sir!
RonC
...and to those of you who will inevitably say that no one should post a resignation statement of any kind but just leave, I say it is fine with many (me included) and it does no harm to you.

We are losing one of our most valuable members and management wants to keep the reason a secret
What kind of BS is that
Yea its Mike and Zuga's place
but
Its the posters here that bring value to this website
I think we deserve an explanation
This decision and multiple decisions in the past really make me think twice about participating here
Hey Wizard, how about some insight in management decisions regarding losing valuable members.
This is a terrible loss for the site and unnecessary. He should not have undue restrictions on who or what he can talk about.
Hopefully calmer minds can resolve this.

If you're leaving anyways why not say what you want to say? What's the worst that can happen? perhaps you get another suspension, but who cares if you're suspended for standing up for yourself?Quote: kewljFirst, a quick thank you to everyone for the many kind comments and support. Apparently you made a silent agreement not to mention or talk about a certain "member"? Why didn't you just keep that agreement? Why focus energy on someone you have a beef with if it's going to come to this?
Honestly I don't think you'll stay away for long(we hope you just cool off and take a short break). Eventually you'll forget about it as if it never happened.
Perhaps you'll get the support you want and stay.
Maybe you'll bury the hatchet and find a reason to stay.
I disagree.Quote: Zcore13He should not have undue restrictions on who or what he can talk about.

If a member is sincerely asking you not to interact with or talk about them you should respect that and leave them alone.
This is assuming that person isn't a troll, sock-puppet or spewing a bunch of BS. IE people like B79.
Unfortunately, he also brings a cross-board feud with another member. Over many Emails and private messages I arranged a truce between these two members to not address each other on this site. KJ agreed to it, and then violated it. I got a complaint, so I had to take action. Respecting my own rules always has always taken precedence over trying to retain good members and get rid of bad ones. Just before clicking the "un-ban" button, I reminded KJ that he would still be held to this truce in any statement made protesting his ban.
The ball is in KJ's court. I never got a request to be self-banned, so he is welcome to post whenever he wishes, subject to the terms of the truce he agreed to. I hope he will stick around but I'm not changing my position on enforcing the truce to accommodate his complaints.
I don't know the details, but this seems reasonable to me.Quote: Wizard

What you say here would be true....IF....this were a feud between 2 legit long-term contributing members. If that were the case then your negotiated solution would be fair. But that is NOT the case. Without mentioning any names....as per agreement, one party is 4 year member that frequently contributes, who you, yourself describe as an outstanding member. The other, while a 6 year member did not participate here for 5 year and 9 months, until he recently re-emerged in to continue this feud. No names....I'll leave it to the membership to figure out whom is whom.
In such a case, the criteria for your decision should not be some sort of artificial thing about respecting past precedent. I would thing the criteria should be for you to weight what is best for the site. And to that end, you have to ask yourself which of these members has a history contributing and trying to make the site better and more enjoyable and which of these members has a different reason for all of the sudden re-emerging, after nearly 6 years.
