I received an online casino solicitation via DM from a newly created account. I assume the perpetrator sprayed the advertisement to many others. To combat this abuse, I suggest some limit be placed on new account messaging similar to existing posting restrictions. Also, the ad included a hyperlink, so suppressing functional hyperlinks as well would be beneficial.

[Ed: Changed “fictional hyperlink” to “functional hyperlink.” Then again, maybe it is fictional; I didn’t click on it.]

I'm a new member here. I am probably an edge case but I ran out of Daily posts for new members, and I wasn't spamming, I was just asking questions and interacting. I had to use DMs to continue the conversations as I was nearing the 5x TC event I was going to and needed advice. I'm not saying don't do something, but please don't crack down super hard on new member DM # allowed.

Should you find yourself being harassed by PM, Please PM your favorite moderator/admin.
If you wish a prompt retaliation response, it may be helpful to pick a mod/admin who has been on the site fairly recently, even if they're not your number #1 superbest favorite.

Spam PM's are pretty clearly in violation of the #3 no free advertising rule, and forwarding such a PM to a mod is not generally considered a heinous breach of privacy.
(We do need something to work from.)

I believe that there are currently some PM limitations for new accounts, although not being a new PM spammer, I couldn't tell you exactly what they are.
May the cards fall in your favor.

… I ran out of Daily posts for new members …

I reread “The Rules” and didn’t see mention of such a limitation for private messages, although the limit on posting is stated. If this suggestion is already implemented, then perhaps mention it. If I was targeted in a limited number of spam messages allowed for a new account that’s just some bad luck for me. I vaguely recall a massive spam messaging incident in the past, but again, I didn’t see a provision in the rules to prevent another occurrence.

Please forward such spam to the moderators, naming the sender, and the sender will be nuked in the blink of an eye.

If you are not getting answers in the forum, please don't bombard members by DM. It's not an appropriate workround.

Rule 13 covers posting limits for new accounts.
Rule 14 covers PM's, saying the above rules also apply to PM's.

I also recall the incident you refer to. I believe some changes were made to the PM mechanism to apply some limitations.

Hopefully only a few members got the unsolicited invitations.
May the cards fall in your favor.

I got the PM too. I didn’t bother forwarding it because the member in question was already restricted.

Nothing against you, or new members in general. It’s just an effort to keep spam to a minimum.
