Just now I received this PM from user 'Invites' (no posts here). I don't see any other threads about it, so I'm posting it here to alert the owners...I imagine using this board to try to gain members at a competing board may not sit well with the new overlords!
Quote:

Hi AcesAndEights,

We are building the #1 Gambling community in the world and only the best of the best are being invited.

We are inviting the Top Casino minds in the world to join us at GamblingForums.com as Founding Members since the Casino section is going to be a huge component of our site and now we want to recognize your status and contributions to the Gambling, Las Vegas, and Casino world by extending you an invitation to become a Founding Member as well.

Our Founding Members already include famous Poker and Blackjack Hall of Famers who've earned millions of dollars at the Casinos and now you have the opportunity to join us as well. You already know why you received this invitation, we don't have to tell you, and those at your level have received invitations as well. In fact, your Top Peers from this community have already joined us as Founding Members, so don't miss out.

There is absolutely no cost to you if you become a Founding Member since you will be granted free and full lifetime access to the community. That means you will never have to pay for any subscriptions and will have full and free lifetime access forever even if we decide to create Premium plans or subscriptions in the future. As a Founding Member, you will also have a say in how we shape our community, particularly the Casino section, giving you a unique influence in the industry and an opportunity to indirectly promote yourself and your services. You will also have the opportunity to invite your most trusted friend and colleague to join us as well. So there is absolutely no cost to you and several benefits and perks to joining now. You just have to make sure you are one of the first 100 to register with your invitation to enjoy Founding Member status.

Imagine one single community where the best Gambling minds across the globe come together to discover and discuss all aspects of Casino betting in one place and exploit synergies across all fields. That's our vision and it has never been done before but we anticipate it will be very successful based on the feedback we have received so far and the quality of our Founding Members.

Please keep this information and invitation private as our community is by invitation only and we are hand-picking each candidate for Founding Member status.

Below is your special invitation (remember that you must be one of the first 100 members to sign up in order to join as a Founding Member):

link removed

We look forward to seeing you in the Private Club!

Best regards,

FWIW I did sign up just for the hell of it (used a throwaway email and password just to be safe). I checked the "Blackjack" section. Only one thread; guy asking for a good book to learn how to count cards. First reply points him at John Patrick's website. So, ummmm. Yeah! Probably not going to be hanging out around there much.

Impressive domain name though. I wonder how much they paid for it.

LQTM, I didn't even think about that! Given the content of the PM, and the fact that the user clearly exists on this board solely to solicit membership to their board, I'm not too worried about it. Technically I did break the letter of the law so I guess if I get a slap on the wrist suspension of a few days, I can't be upset. But I would hope the mods understand my motive for posting here. In context I am trying to help the board, not hurt it by posting this PM. I could have summarized it, but really I'm curious how many others are getting the same PM. It happened soon after I posted, so I'm guessing they have a script or bot scraping the recent posts page for usernames.

Wow, Poker and Blackjack Hall of Famers that have earned millions of dollars huh? And they are going to be active members and relevant content? Prove it.

Yes I was concerned about getting scammed, hence the throw-away creds. After being on the inside it does not look like a scam, just a poorly-executed plan and a board with very few posters as of yet. To be fair they just launched, so maybe it will get better?

Got an invite. Joined. Not impressed so far, but I suppose it's early in their lifespan. They do have some members who I respect very much - hope they get/stay engaged. And, of course, the links to the "wisdom" of JP won't help with that at all...

I got one of these a month ago. It's the same
old lame people I've seen on other gambling
forums for the last 10 years. They keep
starting new forums in the hope that somebody
will spill the beans about the Holy Grail by accident.

these guys are nothing but bunch of spammers. They have been sending spam PMs on LCB as well.

Posting this PM is not something that I would consider to be the breach of WOVs rules, since this is clear case of spam.

And I thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Please let me know their user name ( via Pm )

EDIT:

changed the threads title so not to give them any unnecessary exposure. Also killed the link from the OPs post.

Somebody complained to me about that same PM, except the invitee, on 12/24. It was sent by "inv," who I immediately nuked.

Site policy is that if you want to use this site to promote your own business interests, especially for new members, get admin approval first.

Judging by the common IP as inv, the new guy is "invitation," who I just nuked as well.

You can join by invitation only, which will
be a big drawback. A gambling forum needs
a constant influx of new people to make it
interesting.

I joined a couple months ago but haven't
posted yet. I know some of these guys
from other gambling forums. So far nothing
earth shattering has happened there, same
old talk about theory, not much rubber

It's invite only and only the best of the best are invited. If you are "worthy" they will let you in. Yet, one of the first topics in the Blackjack forum was "What's a good book to learn how to count cards?" Wow, that's a high level post. Very impressed with the best of the best already.

Gambling experts have had a fantasy since
the 90's that if they could only bring the
best minds together, they could beat casino
games. Problem is, gamblers are also very
greedy and if they do find something, they
sure as heck aren't going to 'share' it. A
secret in not a secret for long in the gambling

You have to be greedy or you'll lose. That's
why what the gambling people have is fantasy.
They think if they pretend it's 'all for one and
one for all' that they will get some poor sot
to talk too much and they'll pounce on the

It's obvious they don't have just the greatest minds in gambling as members.
