My question is whether the administrator or mods on this forum can read private messages between members on this forum or whether I can be safe knowing that my private messages to another members here stays private?

This question arised when I discussed a game with a very narrow (0.1% to 0.2%) player edge with another forum member here in a private message. We continued the discussion via e-mail and determined that the very complex and slow strategy to achieve this tiny player edge is not worth it time-wise to pursue further. However, what happened is that the game in question that had been around completely unchanged for at least three years suddenly got removed at the online casino in question. This can of course be a coincidence, however the chance of the coincidence happening at the exact same time I had a private discussion about this game is so low, that it made me concerned about the privacy of private messages in this forum.

So, I ask: if I write private messages to another member on this forum, can I trust that the information stays private or should I assume that a third party may read them?

I believe the answer is C) The Wiz and JB can read them, BUT ONLY IF THEY WANTED TO.

I.E. Unless either of you alerted either of them of a problem worthy of thier investigating, then they probably have more important things to do than read what is intended to be private messages.

Are you sure about that?

No admin has the ability to read them. I suppose a skeptic could say that since JB designed the site he could find a way, but he as much more important things to do.

Ok, many thanks for the confirmation :) I consider it as a coincidence then.

What the Wizard conveniently neglects to mention however is that he can read your mind and see into the depths of your soul. We have all become his minions and there is no escape... except for Jerry Logan.

I keep forgetting to avail myself of that skill at the poker table.

I'm struggling with the causal link here. Say I decided to tell Jerry Logan what I think about him, and JB can read my PM to Virgi about his wife's infidelity, then Virgi's wife becomes a nun. Therefore JB must have convinced Virgi's wife to join a convent?

It seems pretty unlikely that even if the mods can/would/do read PMs, they'd contact a third-party business to alert them to a beatable game. After all, we're all gamblers looking for beatable games...

You should assume on any bulletin board that the owner and technical support team can access any part of the database, which includes private messages, log in times and other transient data.

They probably don't actually do so, but they can if they so desired (may be for legal reasons they get requested to expose messages between users, maybe for curiosity, maybe in the course of writing new code, maybe for more devious reasons). You should assume this on any internet exposed system, and you are giving some level of trust to the owners of that system.

I also fail to see a casual link here, but that's a different issue.
