I intend visiting Macau during the next month to play Blackjack but having logged on to Wizard of Macau there is only mention of CSM's....no shoe games. The last update for Blackjack on the Macau site was 24th May 2010. Just wondering if anyone has visited Macau recently and discovered any Blackjack shoe games at all? If so which casinos and what are the table mins/max, 6 or 8 decks, any heat? I don't want to waste my time going there if there are no decent Blackjack games to play.

I have not been there since August 09, but have never heard of any non-CSM games. I think I would have heard about it otherwise.

Since the Wizard may have already given the answer to the basic question, I will once again risk distracting a thread from its purpose. I offer my question here because it was truly inspired by WinningWays's question.

I travel a fair amount in the U.S., but my international travel has been quite limited. (I have never been to Asia, Australia, or Antarctica.) I am intrigued not just with the potentials of various travels but with different people's reasons for choosing among their travel options. When I read WinningWays's post, my initial thoughts were that a visit to Macau might be a really wonderful experience -- probably a once (or less) in a lifetime event for someone like me -- and with a little effort I could probably make a pretty good list of why I would like to visit and what I would want to do there.

But I cannot really imagine making such a trip for the sole reason of wanting to find a decent blackjack game. (I'm thinking about this from the perspective of someone in the U.S.; if I lived in China, it would be a different matter.) If I wanted blackjack, I suspect I could find somewhere in the U.S. a set of rules as good or better than anywhere else in the world. If I had to go to a high-limit salon to get the rules I want, that would probably be cheaper than traveling to Macau. Now if I went to Macau, I would likely want to play blackjack or some other casino games, but I wouldn't make the trip for that purpose.

Now I realize that the opinion I presented above may not be shared by others. That's what I am interested in hearing about: how do people feel about making a major international trip, not for the experience of visiting the international destination, but for the gambling opportunity there? Does that really intrigue a lot of folks? Please tell me your thinking about such ventures.

And if I have terribly misinterpreted your interests, WinningWays, then I apologize.
