Saw a BJ table being played as follows in a small casino. (Bet - Minimum 10 Maximum 300)
Single Deck Black Jack with only 5 boxes.
Cards are dealt from a shoe.
All cards are dealt face up including the dealer’s card.
Shuffle and riffle shuffle are done before new hand is played.
No Surrender
BJ pays 3:2 – Double any 2 cards, split 2 times except aces. (side bets offered)
Dealer hits on soft 17
Is it worth it for me to play since BJ pays 3:2

That is pretty much a break even game off the top. Since they shuffle every hand you won't be able to vary your bets based on count. The only small advantage I see is playing third base at a full table you may have enough card knowledge to vary basic strategy enough to get a small edge.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

You're missing an important rule. Can you double after you split a hand? This makes this either a great game (.01% HE), or .153% HE. DRich was pretty spot on though, the only way to take advantage of that game is to sit 3rd base at a full table and flat bet (whether that's $10 or $100 a hand). You should have enough information eek a small edge. If you can double after split you've got to have an edge in the game, thus flat bet and play away.
Playing it correctly means you've already won.
