Quote: GreasyjohnI had brought up this question some time ago, or one like it. But the answer wasn't something I understood. I have an iPhone. I, of course know how to click on "Quote" and then post. How do you incorporate several "Quotes" in a post, especially if they are from different forum members?
Click Quote on one post, copy all the text that is prefilled into the box, then click quote on a second post and paste the first quote. Repeat for as many quotes as you need.
Yes, just delete the parts you don't want.Quote: GreasyjohnAnd when someone takes just a sentence from Quote, are they copying the whole thing and just holding down the back space bar to eliminate the parts they don't want?
Quote: GreasyjohnAnd what does the hyperlink do, please?
Instead of copying the URL from your browser bar, which will link to the thread in general, you can use the Permalink URL for linking to a specific post within a thread. For example, https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/off-topic/general/8928-casino-chip-of-the-day/ will link to the chip of the day thread, while https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/off-topic/general/8928-casino-chip-of-the-day/#post130999 will link to the first chip posted.

When you say, "click on one post and copy all the text that is prefilled into the box" that's easy. But when I go to find the next post that I want to quote I have to abandon my reply to go find it. Then you can't just go to your thread and the open reply is just there. It is a new Quote you have to initiate ( or you have to hit the back page bar several times until you find your "open" reply. So specifically, what are the exact steps you take when you've got a "quote" in your reply and you want to either quote again from the same "Quote" (or portion of a quote) or go find a quote from another forum member and place it into your (already in progress) reply? Please answer as though you're talking to a beginner.

There are two reasons to want to use multiple quotes. If you want to respond to different parts of the same quoted post, just hit "quote" and then break that text up into blocks by adding [ /q] and [ q=part 2...] (with out the spaces) to break up the text. That'd be handy if someone wrote a post about 6 strip casinos and you wanted to effectively make 6 different points in reply.
If your goal is to quote multiple posts in one reply, then the best way I've found is to open a second browser tab and use that to find the material that you want to quote from. Then copy that post (or those posts) into your reply. you'll need to manually add the brackets and q= info to format those manually copied posts. This is tough to do without a computer - there's lots of pinch zooming, and frustrating text selection/copying/pasting that needs to happen.
* You would need to loop up how to copy/paste using an iphone.
1) Locate the first post that you want to quote from, and hold down the quote button (don't just tap it) for about 2 seconds until the menu appears, then tap the option to open it in a new page. Switch back to the first page, and repeat this process for each post you want to quote part of.
2) Use the first new page you opened as the reply you will actually type in and eventually post; it will already have quoted text from the first post you wanted to quote. When you are ready to insert quoted text from a different post, switch to the appropriate page in the browser, highlight and copy the quoted text, switch back to the page with the reply you are building, and paste the quoted text into your reply. You should probably then close the page you just copied from.
If you want to break up a single quote into two parts, you might want to open up two pages from the quote button of that same post.

Here's what you do:
Click on "quote".
Above where it says "Reply", it will say something like Home >> Forums >> Forum Info >> Help >> How to get multiple quotes within a post >> Reply.
Right click on the name of the thread (in this case, "How to get multiple quotes within a post"), and in the popup menu, there should be an option for "Open link in new tab". Click on it, and the thread appears in a new tab.
Now, go to that tab, find the second post you want to quote, and click on "Quote", then copy the text from the "reply box" that shows up and paste it in the first reply box.
You do have to jump through some hoops, but it can be done.

So I got this part, except that instead of saying "part two" it would be nice to just have the words "Quote: rdw4potus" in the second installment, like the first one.
To do it like I've seen is probably HTML 102. But thank you for your reply, and the part about opening another browser window.

you can make the second part say whatever you want. Just replace the words "part2..." with what you want to show up there. rdw4potus, rdw4potus again, etc.

You will want to put one quote inside the other one then, like this:
[q=Greasyjohn][q=wudged]wudged quote[/q]Greasyjohn quote[/q]
which would then appear as:
Quote: GreasyjohnGreasyjohn quoteQuote: wudgedwudged quote
Again, not sure how to do this on an iphone but I assume however you can paste text, you would first want to move the cursor to the appropriate location.
Quote: djatcWill there be a multi-quote option sometime in the future? 2+2 has a great thing implemented, just click "multi-quote this message" and then a final "quote" button which writes the code for you.
That would be a great feature.
