using a standard 52 card deck and standard blackjack rules (ace value of 1 or 11 and face cards a value of ten) what are the odds of making a 3 card 21. The deck would be shuffled each time so previous cards exposed would not make a difference.

Looking for 1 in ???? number of hands.

Are you following basic strategy or trying your hardest to get to 21 no matter what? I.e., if you have 10-8 you would normally stand, but if you're chasing some bonus it might be worth it to hit, hoping for a 3. If the bonus was large enough.

This has nothing to do with blackjack. I'm hitting or standing or trying to beat the house. I just want to know what the odds are that the first 3 cards will total 21 using blackjack values. And the deck will be reshuffled after exposing the three cards. 1 in ????

I wrote a C program and I got 9.104% of all 3-card combinations total 21... or 1 in 10.984 hands.

I already has a spreadsheet and agree; it's 2012 hands in 22100. As you say this includes having to hit blackjack and then get a ten or not splitting AAs and getting a 9.
