I think most of us were thinking it.
I just found the newsletter in my spam box. It doesn't bother me a bit. A single weekly email that I can look at if I want or delete in two seconds does not bother me.
You sound angry.Quote: teliotI'm not going to p.m. you anything, you already betrayed this entire site and every person on it by sending out this spam from this Eastern European company you claim is credible. Nonsense. Just delete everyone from your database for your spam. And let them subscribe if they wish. That's the only remedy you have that will save any dignity or respect.
My advice, chill out.
When the site was sold it did include this database of Email addresses. It is standard when you buy a web site that it comes with all the code and member databases. However, I asked the new owner to comment about this issue. He said that the policy to not sell or give the Email list to third parties would remain in effect. In the future, there may be a newsletter, but it would have a simple one-click opt-out policy for anybody that doesn't want it.

Didn't realize that it has been 3 years already. Wasn't Mikes agreeement to stay on for 2 years? If so I am glad they signed him on for more time.
What are they going to do without him? Get the Bold Wizard, the Golden Wizard, the Cajun wizard, whatever else variations of the Colonel there are.Quote: GWAEQuote: rdw4potusSeems to me that we've known for 3 years that there may be a newsletter:

Mike is great. But if there could be a version of the Wizard that could be played by Norm McDonald...well, that biting wit seems like it'd go a long way around here some days.
Quote: AxelWolfI just can't believe you are one of them guys. It seems like there is more to your request than the fact they want to send you a newsletter?
Yes more would go into it than that, this isn't really much. Mainly what happened at bj21 after ownership change lowered my tolerance for bs and trust level to a no tolerance level. I suppose asking for a ban is just as stupid as a self casino ban, easy to just no longer participate.
Quote: mcallister3200I suppose asking for a ban is just as stupid as a self casino ban, easy to just no longer participate.
Most Nevada companies enforce a one year ban if you sign up for the self-exclusion program. If you are curious, you can go up to the cage at almost every casino and just ask for a copy of their self exclusion paperwork. You don't have to fill it out. There could also be an AP play if it is a casino you weren't planning on going back to. Fill out the paperwork which creates a lot of overhead for the casino. If they send you any future mailers or emails you have a legitimate case against them for damages. Some people have went back to the casino after getting a mailer and gambled big. If they lose they may be able to get their losses back. If they win they scoot out very quickly before being noticed.
Is this public record? I would love to read more.Quote: DRichMost Nevada companies enforce a one year ban if you sign up for the self-exclusion program. Anyway, I'm back. Did ya miss me?
Before I comment on the topic, I gotta comment on the suspension itself.
First, I originally didn't even know I was suspended. I received neither email nor private message about it. It took two visits and some investigation on my part to figure it out. Shouldn't some sort of notification accompany a suspension? Particularly when the member is regular poster and otherwise in good standing?
On one visit, I wanted to respond to something in the first newsletter thread, but the reply buttons were gone. I assumed the thread was locked. I then noticed that the post/reply buttons were missing entirely. I figured maybe there was some database maintenance going on. But I DID notice that Eliot had changed his signature to "Resident nut-job". That made me smile. I guess Eliot enjoys being something of a pot-stirrer.
On the next visit, I saw that the buttons were still missing, but that other people were posting. WTF? I finally saw my own name in brown. Uh-oh. What did I do to earn this? I had to go digging to find the discussion about the suspension list to see why I was suspended. I had to read it twice before I realized that it was the nut-job comment that someone took offense to.
Yesterday I saw Eliot's post from two days ago, where he quoted my nut-job comment and challenged a moderator to do something about it. Interestingly, he suggested that either Zuga or I be suspended. That makes me think he agrees with my assessment of Zuga's "Meh" comment. He also changed his signature again. It now reads "Retired nut-job and traitor once removed". Was he expecting or planning to get suspended as well for something?
Anyway, to the nut-job comment itself.
No, I don't really think Eliot is a nut-job. And I'd be shocked to learn that Eliot was truly offended by the comment. I suspect that the next time I run into him, we will have a mutual laugh about this whole incident. And I really think that it ranks rather low on a scale of insults. So low that I didn't realize that it was the cause of the suspension.
On the other hand, I DO think Eliot's complaints were excessive, and stand by the remainder of the post that contained the nut-job comment. Do I really think Zuga's "meh" was a nice way for Zuga to call Eliot a nut-job? Frankly, I don't know.
It should be noted that a few people used the Thanks button on that post, one of whom was Zuga. Since Zuga never quoted any portion of that post, I can't know if Zuga was thanking me for my support, or for the nut-job comment, or some combination.
It should also be noted that several members agreed with my nut-job assessment.
Does that make it OK? No.
As I said, I find it hard to believe Eliot was really offended, particularly considering the signature line changes he made. Nonetheless, he has a fine reputation in this industry, and deserves more respect than I gave him. I apologize for the comment.

EDIT:
Ill ask one of the techs to track your email by your profile here.
Ok so, a lot of assumptions about my above comment. .. I dont think it was dismissive and my comment was NOT implying anything other than "meh if u want to be unreasonable then i aint gonna bother" .. obviously i did bother some more and techs did track his email .
And then you are going to complain when 3rd world casinos send you emails?
Somewhere in Yugoslavia people are laughing, trying to send 5000 more Yugo's to America at $3995.

Both Yugoslavia and Yugo car are long gone. Somehow I think we are not having the last laff here....
I don't know what the fuss is all about. IF a newsletter was sent it perhaps should have had an Opt IN feature or a week's prior notice, sort of a BOLO.Quote: ZugaBoth Yugoslavia and Yugo car are long gone. Somehow I think we are not having the last laff here....
I don't know about this 'meh'... never did figure out what it meant anyway.
Sure hope we ain't done lost Elliot, ain't he the math whiz?
NOTE: I still ain't never got no newsletter

Yeah, I've checked my spam folder & my inbox. No newsletter for me, either. (assuming the "WOV Newletter" isn't porny spam)
Maybe Eliot can forward his copy to me?
Quote: DRichI also have not received it and would like to see it. Zuga, please post a link on this website so we can all see it.
We are preparing the new edition, so once its done ill have a link posted. In the mean time if anyone wants to confirm their subscription ( in case you didnt receive the first one etc ) please drop me a PM.
p.s.
Ill ask techs to locate your email DRich.
Now that three people say they have looked for it in their spam folders, congratulations are in order to "teliot" for creating a lot more interest in the "newsletter" than it would ever have got by itself without that help. It has the attention of at least three whole people actually spending a few seconds intentionally looking for it for it! If you've ever glanced at the "most active threads" list on the forum you've basically seen the "newsletter." It has a "view this email online if it..." link, which I'd gladly pass along so y'all could have the satisfaction of seeing the same thing you already see on the site, but it's a dead link.Quote:...I kind of want to see what all the fuss is about,..
It was in the spam folder of my designated spam sign-up Yahoo crapmail dummy account, so it was rejected as spammy by my spam. So, right where it should be, and all is well, as far as I'm concerned. Probably got there because unlike the better class of spam that fake email account lives for, it didn't say I must hurry because riches are waiting for me at XYZ Casino's tournament or promotion, did not inform me that I've probably already won a quadrillion dollars, and most egregiously, it failed to contain a single soft-porn picture of babes draped over a much younger and far better looking version of me sitting in front of a mountain of chips, or any nubile nymphets reclining over a sports car I will surely win. I'm outraged by this. I want my babes & nymphets, and it will continue to be rejected as a substandard grade of spam by my normal spam account until it has that.
As far as the content for those of you who didn't receive it, here is the first quoted article in the newsletter, an advertisement for some online casinos:Quote: GetResponse

Quote: teliotI heard back from the company that LCB used to send this mass email. They had already deactivated the campaign before I contacted them. The reason for deactivation was for violation of the ToS. That settles the matter. It was spam. I am sure LCB will be more sensitive to the ToS in their next mass-email endeavor.
Indeed our subscription was unilaterally cancelled. But not for the reasons they claim. And thats all I have to say about that. Take it the way you want, dont care.
Now let me clarify for the LAST TIME:
We do not use spam databases. The ONLY databases we use are the ones that belong to our network websites, as part of the sign up process, subscriptions, and so forth. None of these emails were acquired illegally.
Now , we did understand that some WoV membership might get upset as they never opted in , or thought they havent. Which is exactly why we started this topic to be transparent about our plans and give ppl a chance to unsubscribe,. You cant get more transparent than that. Not to mention this is the 3rd time we had spoke about this ( 1st time was after the acquisition , 2nd time was like year or so ago and 3rd time now ).
As to your arguments to delete the database, no reasonable person would do that , knowing that there is much more users that actually prefer to get the updates. And after all database was part of the sale. Period,.
Bottom line is, We did everything in good faith, and yet it is not enuff to some .
Your email was removed from our list, so I strongly urge you to move on .
cheers
Zuga
