At first, they were strongly-linked sister sites and bans at one applied to both. The main reason for creating DT was to try to focus more on gambling discussion here and the touchier topics like religion, sexuality, and politics at DT.
When I sold this site I didn't think the new management would want to respect bans at a site they didn't own, so I had a soft "one way" policy that bans here would apply at DT, but not the other way around. There have been so few bans at DT (until recently at least) that it didn't really matter.
I'm not sure if I ever put it in writing, but at first I had a strong position against publicly quoting from PM's without permission. Since WoV and DT were sister sites at first, I expected PM's to be respected at both sites, regardless of the site of origin. However, the behavior at DT has historically been very well-behaved, so the policy has never been put to the test. Until now.
At this time, I think it is appropriate to reevaluate things. That said, effective immediately, WoV and DT should be considered as separate sites. That doesn't make I'll take kindly to people abusing this new policy. As always, at both sites, management can use its discretion in dealing with unforeseen circumstances.
Getting back to the Terapined/EvenBob incident, I will take the blame for not making this policy clear earlier. BBB was trying to enforce a rule fairly. Sometimes enforcing a rule on a generally well-liked member is not the easy or the popular thing to do. In this case, I will take the fall for it, since BBB was trying to enforce a rule I made. I would like to say that Terapined is one of the nicest people we have on this forum and it is a better place as a result of his participation. Hopefully he will have no hard feelings upon his return.
of answering the PM, or addressing it
on DT, he drags it to another site to
whine about it. It's like he wanted the
biggest audience possible to witness
the depth of his wrongness in calling
something hate speech that was nothing
of the kind. Well, he did accomplish that,
I guess.
You're the one who sent the message there and not here, when here is where the topic was discussed. Perhaps you knew being suspended there wouldn't affect you here. Nobody said you had to deliberately use the term "eyes squeezed shut". Blindly would have been a more effective word, but you wanted to make that dig. I think the best description is not that it was odd, but that he outsmarted you.Quote: EvenBobI do think it's beyond odd that instead

Even though I don't agree with a lot of his views he's one of the coolest, nicest guys you could meet from these forums. I don't think he'll have hard feelings.

You must be kidding. You're upset at my
choice of colloquialisms? There are
colloquialism police now? Trump is getting
here just in time. PC has gone haywire.
Eyes squeezed shut is more effective than
blind, just like 'burying your head in the sand'
is more effective than saying 'closing your
eyes'. When writing you want to convey
images, not just say words.
Oh relly. Wrong.Quote: EvenBobYou must be kidding. You're upset at my

Then you don't understand the use of
colloquialisms. Probably not your fault.
They get your point across vividly, they
cause people to picture things in their
mind, not just read words. Authors
like Mark Twain and JD Salinger would
have been lost without them.
