Two bored dealers are waiting around for someone to walk up and try their luck at the craps table. A very attractive lady comes in and wants to bet twenty-thousand dollars on a single roll of the dice. The dealers agree.

She says, "I hope you don't mind, but I feel much luckier when I'm half naked." With that she strips naked from the waist up, and rolls the dice while yelling, "Momma needs a new pair of pants!" She then begins jumping up and down and hugging each of the dealers.

"YES! I WIN! I WIN!" With that she picks up her money and clothes and quickly leaves.

The dealers just stare at each other dumbfounded. Finally one of them asks, "What did she roll anyway?" The other answers, "I don't know. I thought YOU were watching the dice!"

I hate to add to the list, but there's also no way I can make it in August. It's mostly a matter of how vacations get scheduled at our department, and also the heat.

I do not plan to ever visit Las Vegas again in the summer.

Once was enough.

It is difficult to describe just how oppressive, how limiting and debilitating, the heat can be.

A real time temp of 140 degrees or more on the strip, the pavement and buildings amplifying the heat?

Count me out.

I found the weather rather good and pleasant in April, even if it got too windy at times.

Once, though, it got cold. Precisely on May 6th (not April), at 9 pm after leaving the Flamingo the wind felt chilly. I had to go inside casinos along the way the Wynn in order to get warm!. Then I went to my room to get a cardigan.

Last year I spent some days in early June at 100+ F. It was bearable under the canopy at Fremont St. and hellish in the open without shade. I've no desire to experience that again.

Really, Vegas should consider putting a roof over the whole city. It would do wonders for tourism and keep the pools open year-round. :)

I conclude that in Vegas, May is colder than April.

Wait a second, that sounds like Australia.

I have been to Vegas 4 times in August. I never thought the heat was overly bad. We did a ton of walking including walking from MGM to the Circus Circus one day. We did stop at a few places in between but if you plan it right and drink plenty of water it is not that bad IMO.

It could be. Then again, the day of the WoVCon lunch dawned overcast and brisk. I carried a light cardigan with me then, too.

On the way to and from my room there was this AC vent in the hallway which blasted cold air. On those two days I mentioned it was blasting warm air.

As a disclaimer, I should mention that I wear shorts in 45+ and complain vehemently about anything over 65.

I've been in Vegas in August when it was 125 during the day and 95 in the middle of the night.

Then again, casinos are air-conditioned, so what do I care? The only time I left the casino was to go to the pool, and at the pool I didn't spend much time out of the water.
