With 2015 being the 5 year anniversary of the original WoVcon concept, and with needing to give myself something to look forward to, I am planning to start organising next years WoVcon now.
I want it to be something special, hence the massive lead time.
However I know that this may be a problem with the dates I am suggesting but to Mrs Croupier now being a High School Maths teacher, it limits the dates we can make it out.
So here is the plan (which will evolve as we get closer, but with a 15 month lead time its deliberately vague)
Sometime between the 10th and the 22nd of August 2015 we get together. (I know the heat will be troublesome, but I work with what I can)
I will organise a trivia quiz and try and plan out some other things to do.
So - Who Fancies it?
I'm also not averse to planning a smaller get together for August, and arranging the bigger gathering later even If I cannot attend.
BTW, at our recent gathering, I think rdw4potus was on the verge (maybe even a little past the edge) of accepting responsibility for planning a gathering for next year. Perhaps you should coordinate efforts with him.
As for the proposed date, my wife and I have visited Las Vegas in June and September, finding both periods too hot for us. We've never considered visiting there either of the months in between.
I've actually met a few members videotaping the Mission Nugget challenge last year.
Scheduling may be difficult for me.
I get alot of vacation, 5 weeks a year but it all has to be arranged 1 year in advance and very difficult to change once arranged.
I generally plan 1 week to spend Xmas in Vegas so thats how I taped the nugget challenge.
The rest of the weeks off what I gennerally do is plan all my vacations around the Music festival schedule at the beautiful Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park and campground in FLorida even though I have no idea who is playing.
Once the lineups are anounced, I either take my RV Camper to the festival if its a great lineup of bands or opt for Vegas.
I'm thinking I will stay Saturday-Thursday and leave on Friday this time around. I really enjoy hanging out with everyone and enjoyed running with RudeBoiOi those two days, but I definitely need to schedule two days to just do my own thing. It will be cool enough temperature-wise, I like to walk aimlessly around town (probably the Strip, Ellis Island, that sort of thing...eight walking hours, hit a few places...stuff like that. Too much walking for most.
It also depends if Saturday flight prices are any different than leaving Sunday...but I will probably alternate hang out with people days and chill by myself days.
He said that I am a WANKER and should be proud of it ???

I can translate.
And you should only be proud if you are proud of your willingness to regularly masturbate.

Thanks Doc.
And a shame its too hot for the both of you. I'm still feeling guilty about not picking up the check for breakfast when you took us too the Hoover Dam. I feel I still owe you two a meal.
She says, "I hope you don't mind, but I feel much luckier when I'm half naked." With that she strips naked from the waist up, and rolls the dice while yelling, "Momma needs a new pair of pants!" She then begins jumping up and down and hugging each of the dealers.
"YES! I WIN! I WIN!" With that she picks up her money and clothes and quickly leaves.
The dealers just stare at each other dumbfounded. Finally one of them asks, "What did she roll anyway?" The other answers, "I don't know. I thought YOU were watching the dice!"
*bump*
Once was enough.
It is difficult to describe just how oppressive, how limiting and debilitating, the heat can be.
A real time temp of 140 degrees or more on the strip, the pavement and buildings amplifying the heat?
Count me out.
Las Vegas heat
Quote: Mission146Summer? Forget that, I'll never go again in April!
I found the weather rather good and pleasant in April, even if it got too windy at times.
Once, though, it got cold. Precisely on May 6th (not April), at 9 pm after leaving the Flamingo the wind felt chilly. I had to go inside casinos along the way the Wynn in order to get warm!. Then I went to my room to get a cardigan.
Last year I spent some days in early June at 100+ F. It was bearable under the canopy at Fremont St. and hellish in the open without shade. I've no desire to experience that again.
Really, Vegas should consider putting a roof over the whole city. It would do wonders for tourism and keep the pools open year-round. :)

I conclude that in Vegas, May is colder than April.
Wait a second, that sounds like Australia.

It could be. Then again, the day of the WoVCon lunch dawned overcast and brisk. I carried a light cardigan with me then, too.
On the way to and from my room there was this AC vent in the hallway which blasted cold air. On those two days I mentioned it was blasting warm air.
Quote: GWAEI have been to Vegas 4 times in August. I never thought the heat was overly bad. We did a ton of walking including walking from MGM to the Circus Circus one day. We did stop at a few places in between but if you plan it right and drink plenty of water it is not that bad IMO.
I've been in Vegas in August when it was 125 during the day and 95 in the middle of the night.
Then again, casinos are air-conditioned, so what do I care? The only time I left the casino was to go to the pool, and at the pool I didn't spend much time out of the water.
