Post Counts

So I belong to various other forums, presumably like others here. Some of these other forums have post-counter gimmicks like titles, icons, etc that give indication as posting "seniority" (given lack of a better term).

Personally, I like the idea of chip or stack of chips, like Red, Green, Black, Purple, Orange, Blue (5-25-100-500-2000-10000).

Way to pad your thread count to 16, 98Clubs!

I've never seen gimmicks like that add value to a forum. The worst, however, is 'reputation' where members give each other reputation points for 'good' posts. It starts off slow, but as it builds it gets worse and worse with (typically) the various cliques forming reputation pumping circle jerks.

I say leave it alone, it's not broken, nothing to fix.

I agree with Monkey that it doesn't work as intended, and adds no value.

On the flip side, I'd like to see avatars and other user defined into appear below the user name.

For what it's worth, this topic does come up from time to time and ends with a comment from the Wiz that he and JB are against such things. So it ain't gonna happen.
