It has become my favorite casino, by far. Good food offerings, good, cheap buffet, lots of variety of newer slots, lots of FP video poker, friendly staff, good clientele, and you can actually talk on a cell phone just about everywhere. Also pretty good comps. And, you can get from covered parking to both check-in and room elevators in about 2 minutes. Like the beds, too. The casino is sort of chopped up but that keeps it from seeming dull.

I think convenience is the prime draw for locals casinos and possibly for others. Stations doesn't pretend to have exotic French food or something. Take a look at what you value: parking, serene atmosphere, good cheap food, etc. The twenty somethings want the awful din and 200 naked babes attacking them. Stations customers just want a good gamble amidst comfort. No long hot walks, no downpours, no noise, no ordeals.
I'm not too sure that "locals" in Vegas are better gamblers, they just don't have the " we are on vacation " mood and won't tolerate traffic jams, drunks, hordes of clubbers, etc.
From Dottys to Arizona Charlies Decatur to Stations ... its perhaps a strange progression but I think that people who live in Vegas just don't want to be around tourists or tourism oriented activities. Tourists come to Vegas for exotic French food. The closest the locals get to that is to order French Fries with their burger.

They used to have a wonderful Mexican restaurant buffet there. I wonder if it's still there. Edit: (I was thinking of the Fiesta. Oops.)
