Quote: Global Gaming ExpoHi Michael,
Thank you for applying as press for Global Gaming Expo 2016. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide you with media credentials for this year’s show.
If you have registered erroneously as media and would like to register as a G2E attendee, please register at http://www.globalgamingexpo.com/Register-Now/.
Best,
Lovely Mempin | Account Coordinator
The industry gets a lot of mileage out of the free coverage I give to new games that I see there. Exhibitors pay to go there in part for the publicity generated to new games from people like me. But, as usual, I get no respect at all.
At this point a floor pass costs $225. I usually get a lot of offers for a free pass under a corporate sponsor as the show draws close, but none so far.
So, consider this a spot for people like me to beg for a free pass. I know the forum has a lot of starving game inventors who are probably in the same boat as me.
Please PM me if you can get me into the show.
The question for the poll is do you have/need a pass? (S.G. = Scientific Games)
Just kidding-
Just curious- when is it?
I'm pretty positive you have more composite views than any other gambling publication.
There tab- just for content alone
Quote: gamerfreakWhy did they deny you?

They didn't say. It probably comes down to whether the person making the decision that year has heard of me. I get approved some years and denied others.
What I don't get is why some of my competitors like CasinoMeister seem to get approved every year? The press lounge is always full of them eating free food.

Oh, they would pay if I asked. As a good employee, I'm trying to save them the money and trouble.

Sep 27-29.
Go on the offense...if you haven't already!
I'd love to go to G2E too... When is it again?
Quote: RonCDo you just accept it or get a little indignant with them? I am not a big fan of people asking "do you know who I am?" for better service or favors, but you really are someone that they should be giving a press pass.
I just accept it without argument. I'm a defensive kind of guy. I really would like to know how much smaller affiliate sites get approved though.
Quote: RonCI would ask for someone to review the situation...it is at least worth an email inquiry. This is a field where you are an important player and provide a lot of free coverage...both based on your own stories and contributions here of others...
Oh, I'm just not a complainer. Plus, I would come off like a two-year-old screaming "I'm important!"
Really why? I thought you were a table games player?Quote: IbeatyouracesI wouldn't pay $2.25 to go there.
You never know what new game you might find and what juicy information you might get. PM me and I'll tell you about a game that you could've believe. Someone FKed up big time so did gaming and whomever did the game analysis.
I want one to.Quote: MaxPenSending you a text.
Vegas icon. That and $225 will get you
right in.

I'd like to hear this one. Send me a PM please. :)
But I'm glad you got your expo pass. It reminds me that I need to get my pass...
But out of curiosity, what would a press pass give you that an ordinary expo pass wouldn't?
For the record, after having been to many conventions of this sort, it's been my experience that the expo floor - the one place where it's relatively easy to get a pass for free entry - is the one place where they vigorously check credentials before entry.
The break out training rooms, the areas that add a lot of value to the convention to those that pay the price, generally have very lax or no security. Anyone can get in.
One example comes to mind: At G2E in 2013, Penn Gillette was giving the Keynote speech Tuesday morning before the expo floor opened. I tested my theory and went right in. In fact, I even stepped up to the mic during the Q&A section. Obviously, my expo-only credentials should not have allowed me to go in, but here's the kicker: This was before I picked up my credentials. I had nothing, but waltzed in anyway.

Access to all the sessions and the press lounge. The press lounge is always stocked with food and beverages. It is also pretty easy to sneak guests in, so a nice place to have sit-down meetings. Some people seem to camp out in there the whole show and do one meeting after another.
I may try to sneak into a session or two, now that you make it sound so easy. I'll flip my badge around to hopefully improve my odds.

You don't have to come off like that at all. Simply have your agent, secretary, assistant, sock puppet, or someone titled something like that ask on your behalf saying that there must be some misunderstanding and listing your credentials. This kind of stuff happens all the time; not everyone knows who you are.
Quote: AxelWolfI would be very interested in going to one of them Darksider game protection /AP buster presentations. I would love to see what kind of fear mongering tactics they are using to sell themselves or their products.
I've been to 3. They all end up arguing with other experts in the q and a section.

Are you referring to the talk I moderated? Goes to show what a lousy peacemaker I am.

Wasn't your fault Henry decided to posture and bluster.
But that was,.in fact, the best of the 3.
You're a prior moderator, and they turned their nose up to your request for a pass? WTF???Quote: WizardAre you referring to the talk I moderated? Goes to show what a lousy peacemaker I am.
