Last time I was in vegas I racked up some express
comps most of which were spent during that trip but
I did continue to play up until the last moment so
I left $40 in unused express comps in vegas.
From my interpretation of the info on the website
it seems like everything should have been reset.
True enough I have reverted back to pearl but i
have noticed that there is still $40 left in my express
comps.
Is this a mistake or will I find my $40 waiting for me?

that's what i thought. only i had my doubts because
when i loggged onto my mlife account they had me
as $40 still left and tier level reset even after 12
months so it's a little confusing.

If you used your MLife card at a non-Vegas property, this would also keep Express Comps active.

I don't think that is the reason as I haven't been
to the states since last vegas trip and I don't think
they have any properties in the uk.
I am a bit of a pessimist by nature so I will wait
until I get to vegas (although that may not be
until october) to find out for sure.

Because the expiring points was a NEW thing that was just started in Nov, 2012, MLife made an exception to existing comp dollars. You will not lose them, until Nov 2013. I am working from memory, so I could be off on this, but I am 95% certain this is what I read on the mailer about the MLife change.
Any new comp points earned, do follow the new guidelines.

Since when I called MGM they were useless...
Can you use express comps at all restaurants on the properties in LV or do I need to get a paper comp from the player's club? Can you use them for a show if you go to the box office in person?

In the past they did not expire express points. As of Nov 1, 2012 that policy has been changed. Express comps will now expire. I don't remember if it is 1 year, or 6 months. In addition, your card level will also reset every year, and you will have to requalify your play level. Pretty much same program as Rewards Credit now.

I hadn't read your post on the bottom of page 1 until after I made my post. Once I read it I realized mine was rather "duh" so I removed it.

I figured that was what happened, so I removed the name and quote to protect the innocent. :-)
