C'mon in! The water's fine!

Are you going to be there, personally? I hope so. It would be kind of fun to beat the guy who helped me tweak and improve my Poker For Roulette idea. LOL.

But seriously, although I'm a little giddy about the possibility of such an outcome, (not to mention nervous about the competition), I think if that happens, my emotions will be a combination of shock and pride. And, of course, you'll be invited to share in the pride.

Thanks y'all. I asked my boss at the Venetian for the day off, but no reply yet. I'm hoping to do the Tuesday dinner, event itself, and post-event lunch.

Yes, bragging rights will be yours if you can beat the Wizard.

To warn you, I'm going to be showing Three Card Mulligan Poker. I have it on my site titled as Three Card Second Chance. What I show will have a different side bet, that isn't correlated to the main bet.

If I must lose, I hope it is to someone from WoV.

Why give both player and dealer a chance to discard? It
just slows down the game and serves no purpose. Without
the discard, you could be blind drunk and still play. You
have no decisions to make, no mistakes to make. More
hands per hour means more profit for the casino. And
nobody has to understand the rules, just play. Like mini
bac, its mindless. Which ain't a bad thing. If I was a judge,
and you got rid of the discard thing, I would actually vote
for this game. It has everything going for it.

Get rid of the discard thing? That's what makes his game unique.

Without the discards, how is this any different than Three Card Poker?

Never played 3 card poker. The discard thing seems
redundant, it serves no purpose. So Mikes game
is 3 card poker with discards?

I've never played 3CP either, but, yeah, that's what it sounds like to me.

And since table games players want the ability to control their destiny (or at least the feeling that they have that control), adding this strategy element is a good thing. Plus, it eliminates the dreaded "dealer qualifier" thing.

I think Mike's got a good shot at the focus group.

There is no qualifier that I saw. You win or you
lose. Players want games where they don't have to
think. Giving them 2 hands for the price of 1 is
redundant and it forces them to think. Get rid
of the discards and you have a perfect fast casino
game that anybody can play and understand in 10sec.

U.S. players that fit this description play slots, not table games.

As I understand it, Baccarat is the exception and normally has a non-western clientele. Not making a decision is part of relying on destiny/fate to determine your outcome/fortune. IMHO, this is a view that is not shared by the vast majority of non-asian, U.S. table game players.

The two most unpopular games are craps and roulette.
People don't play them because they involve thinking.
Where do I bet THIS time. They want games with a
minimum chance of making mistakes. Or what they
perceive as mistakes. All the bets in roulette are equal,
but most people don't know that. Except one and nobody
knows where that is anyway and its HE is higher than
the rest of the table.

Not sure where you got your information, but in Nevada, craps and roulette are the 3rd and 4th highest revenue earners behind only baccarat and blackjack.

I didn't say they didn't make money. They aren't popular
with most casino players. Thats why there are so few tables
and why they're vacant so often. I often see every BJ table
full and nobody at the craps and roulette tables. Its always
been that way.

Craps and Roulette are traditionally viewed as non-strategic games (i.e. you put down your bet and see what happens). I don't agree with you that they are unpopular, but given that as an assumption, doesn't this indicate that players want games that have a strategic player decision?

NO! They want games that are easy to play, that are
non challenging, where they can make few mistakes.
Roulette is daunting to most people, it looks very
complicated and confusing. I can't count the times I
go to play and all 3 tables are vacant. I don't bet every
spin, so I can't play alone. I've had to leave because nobody
would play longer than 5min.

That would be like commenting the following about Blackjack Switch, "Why let the player switch cards, it just slows the game down."

This is supposed to be a golf twist on poker. If you don't like your first ball, hit another one. Of course, the other guy has the same option. It is that simple.

But aren't you just giving everybody, including the dealer,
two hands for the price of one? Just give them one, the
game will go faster and the casino will make more money.
When selling a game, isn't that the object?

I think Mulligan Poker has a definite shot.

It sounds simple. Exceedingly simple, but with the strategy element that people want.

When Mike was helping me tweak my Poker For Roulette game, one of the things he stressed was "Simple, simple, simple!" He certainly achieved that in his own game.

Frankly, I'm starting to worry. I WANT those braggin' rights, damnit!

NV statewide:
there are about 2800 BJ tables, 470 roulette tables, 400 craps tables, 260 baccarat tables.
so per table baccarat is first, craps is second, roulette is third.

NV statewide win amount
March 1 2011 -Feb 29 2012
Bac. 1.364 billion
BJ. 1.051 billion
craps 399 million
roulette 333 million
sports 158 million
3 card poker 157 million

So with about 7 times as many BJ tables as Roulette tables, BJ pulls in about 2.5 times as much money, and with about 8 times as many BJ vs Craps tables, BJ pulls in 3 times as much.

OK. Thanks. Just checking.

Roulette is often dead all evening as well.
Its maddening during the week, 9pm and
nobody playing, or they play for 10min and
wander away. On weekends its always busy,
but I don't go near casinos on weekends, too
crowded. The Wiz has predicted roulette
is on the way out, he might be right.

FYI to all presenters: We will have SHFL chaperons at each game and with respect to gaffers, they have been instructed to strike down upon them with great vengeance and furious anger.

Everyone has 10 minutes to demonstrate his game; that's more than enough time to: 1) Explain the rules; 2) Deal 5-6 rounds; and 3) Persuade people it's good. Understand that in the real world, as in this focus group, players will form their impressions quickly. It's like a woman on the first date: She knows in the first five minutes if she likes you or not.
