When Raving had new table games convention, the best new game was by Galaxzy. Second by by Unlimited Concepts and the third went to Gaming Network Inc. Any surprise here. If Galaxzy came up with heads I win tail you lose, they still would have won first. Without knowing who gets the votes, the voters will vote for the company they like( have relations with) not for the game. So much for Triple Attack Blackjack. Haven't seen it in a casino and will walk by if I did.

New game developers will never get a fair shot at this BS contest.
1. It is a secret voting without knowing who gets the votes.
2. There is no results, only the winners announced.
3. If you are not one of the big distrubitors, please pay for a booth and think that you have a chance in this contest. We will add one more carrot stick by stating that you get a fielf trial, but wait... you can't win.

Was this conference in 2011? If results were rigged I would think that Shufflemaster to have been in the top 3,
ShuffleMaster and Unlimited Concepts are first to sponsor Raving’s Cutting Edge Table Games Conference, August 18-20, 2010 at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

No conference in 2011. Probably March or April 2012 according to Dennis.

I think the results were fair in counting, but were drawn from a "limited" pool of respondants who drank cocktails and were chatted up by salesmen. Look, it was a networking conference, but one with a final contest to boot.

We do NOT know what we will buy for our casino, or what will work out for us in our casinos, until years have passed and the real results are in.
In fairness to Raving:
1. They make a good-faith effort to showcase everyone fairly. There are no bad booths there.
2. We all go there to make real-world contacts with DTG's and executives, the games contest was actually a good showing of the contestants who suited up, showed up, and pitched their games well.

Ah but it's the last step that's the hardest too often. " Good contacts. "

I think this is a well conceived event & I attended in 2010 (but did not exhibit).

I was able to make a several contacts with Table Games Management members at properties in WA, which is my primary market, by walking the floor and taking note of name tags. I was able to meet PaigowDan, talk to other independents as well as personnel from the Large Distributors. I know of one of the independents got an additional placement directly as a result of exhibiting at the show.

The only problem I saw with the Show was that I expected there to be more attendees from more properties. My guess is there were about 50 properties present from across the country (but 6 properties in WA attended). If you are targeted in on a particular region (i.e. WA State for me), it may make more sense to exhibit at a gaming show in that region. If you already have placements in place, are looking to get placed in Nevada or haven't decided on a market and are just looking for a field trial somewhere, exhibiting at Ravings Show may work for you.

As individual game developers, this show provides a much cheaper alternative to getting in front of more potential contacts than a booth @ G2E. You know that those that attend are only table game mgmt individuals. There were around 20 games present and I talked to one DTG that was there looking specifically for new games. The total population at the show was small, but it was a target rich environment for developers.

As independent developers we should be supporting this show as an alternative to G2E and frankly making it the show that DTG's have to attend to see the newest games from other than the big players at G2E.

The contest winners are somewhat meaningless in my mind as I would care more about making contacts and be able to follow up on those contacts as opposed "winning" the contest. I don't believe the two are mutual exclusive.

I feel that a targeted convention such as the Raving Table Games is where independent game developers should focus. As for the G2E, the cost to reward was not there last year. G2E was about three things. 1. slots 2.slots. 3.slots

Question, would it make sense to have a exhibit put on by developers rather than waiting for someone else to do it? Raving chose not to do it this year. When I contacted them about a future date, no response. What a surprise. On their web site, they say for us to contact them but if they chose to ignore one of us, they are ignoring all of us.

I posted this on a thread RAVING. Guess you missed it,

Hi Buzz,

Thank you for your email. We absolutely would welcome digital table game vendors to exhibit at the conference we have several types of vendors at the conference; but yes, in the past, to be eligible for the competition, they couldnt be fully electronic.

We have not set a date for the 2012 conference, but I will keep your email if we do bring it back for another year.

Thanks again for your email and stay tuned.

All the best,

Chrisblue
