I suppose this thread could be a roll call, but I know it will take tangents to discuss the show, as well as attendee meet-ups, and other stuff.
The show is Tuesday 10/4 thru Thursday 10/6. www.GlobalGamingExpo.com
I just snagged a reasonable airfare. Continental direct from Newark, $389 with tax. I arrive Sunday at 11:20am, and leave Thursday at 9:50pm. When I priced it yesterday, it was over $550, plus tax.
I'm not going to book my hotel yet. Of the strip casinos, I'm a member only at Caesars, and plan to make another visit to one of their AC properties prior to booking, so maybe they'll start liking me more. Then again, I just did a price check. The cheapest option is Flamingo, for $40 per night. I *MAY* stay downtown Sunday (and possibly Monday) nights. I never stayed downtown before, and always wanted to.
Timing is everything. While typing this, I got an email from Anthony Curtis. $20 per night at Imperial Palace. So maybe I'll go back there, now that I know my way around....

The Flamingo might be an interesting change.
The Imperial Palace is a tiny bit closer to the Sands Convention Center - a 650 yard walk from the back enterance, and it'll be just cool enough in October.
But they're all good ideas.
Looking forward to seeing you!

Yes, all can come, but it's like $130 or so for a pass. You'd spend that for a show...

Yes, indeed! There are a lot of impromptu inventor's conventions at G2E.

I'm going to try to start going to vegas 3 times per year: G2E, CES, and some other time (maybe if WovCon becomes an annual event). I'm not sure if that'll start with this year's G2E, but I hope so.

I am thinking about coming down again this year. I wouldnt mind seeing a few of the same faces as last year(dan, geoff, mike, stacey etc....). last year was a really good time and was a great networking experience. although, im not sure i can take the time off from work. I would love to showcase Money$uit with a booth, but unfortunatly im not able to commit at this time.
If anything changes i will keep you guys posted.

I'll be there - will likely stay at least a week either side of the G2E as it takes so long for me to get there :-)

I usually get a code for free entry to the expo shortly before the show. While I can't make any promises the odds are good that somebody will pass along the secret code to me. If I get the code I'll PM anybody who I know is planning to go. So my advice is don't pay the registration fee. Worst case scenario is I don't get the code and you have to pay a little extra for last minute registration.
Usually the second night of the show is the prestigious mathematicians dinner, but maybe the first night we can have a WoV dinner.

Free passes? Cool!
I was thinking about asking if they exist, but I didn't want to be presumptuous.
Thanks!

I just got an email that registration is finally open.
It seems wierd. Most big conventions announce the dates and locations of the following year's convention during the current convention. I don't know if they did that at G2E 2010 or not, but G2E 2011 was announced quite a while ago. But other conventions always open registration as soon as the dates are announced. Strange that G2E waited.
Of course, I think the EV of the Wiz' offer is worth the wait, making this rather irrelevant.
