Here is a sneak peak at the game I am rolling out at the Global Table Games show next month. It is a two-handed poker game called Split'em Stud.

Play starts with an ante bet and optional 7-card side wager. The dealer will deal each player four cards followed by three community cards face down. The player may choose to play or fold. If they play, they will split their hand into two, two-card hands and make a matching play wager equal to the ante for the second hand. The three community cards will now be revealed. Each two-card hand will play with the three community cards forming a five-card poker hand. Payouts are awarded based on the paytable below (identical to Mississippi Stud except pushes on pairs of 7s-10s instead of pairs of 6s-10s)..

A 4-Card Bonus is awarded to any hand of Jacks or Better made using the initial 4 cards, this is in addition to either of the ante or play wagers (must play to qualify). Players will not want to break up a starting hand of two-pair, straight, flush, etc... so the best remedy I could come up with is to pay them for it first!

Finally, an optional 7-card wager pays 5 card hands made using all seven cards, very similar to the Fortune Bonus wager in Pai Gow.

RTP: 97.74%

You can play a demo here: I welcome all feedback.

Ante & Play 4-Card Ante Bonus
Royal Flush ..... 500 to 1 500x
Straight Flush .. 100 to 1 100x
4 of a Kind ...... 40 to 1 40x
Full House ....... 10 to 1 *
Flush ............. 6 to 1 6x
Straight .......... 4 to 1 4x
3 of a Kind ....... 3 to 1 3x
Two Pair .......... 2 to 1 2x
Jacks or Better ... 1 to 1 1x
Pair 7's - 10's ..... Push *

I played it a little
I dont know the strategy
So I did this, look for 2 sets of decent cards I would limp in if I was playing regular holdem
I ended folding a lot
Maybe too much
And when you fold, you may be disappointed if the flop would have helped you
Also folding is kind of akin to letting the casino have your blind
Kind of a weird game in that you are not playing against a dealer.
Kind of a variation on JOB video poker but you are playing 2 different hands
I think this game would work better without an ante
I think players seeing cards before deciding to participate is a game component players like a lot
Its just a forum. Nothing here to get obsessed about.

Thanks for playing. You should play the vast majority of hands (Jack high or better). That being said a lot of the hands are marginal play/fold decisions meaning they won't have a significant impact if not optimally played.. .

Didn't play it yet, but very similar to Texas Shootout by Galaxy Gaming. There's is holdem instead of 5 card stud and you can choose to discard 2 or split into two hands.

Yes it is, Texas Shootout and 4-Card Split are the most similar games. Both have some complexities that get simplified by Split'em IMO (Split'em uses a single deck like most poker games, built-in mitigation for having to split good starting hands versus having to call-out a side-bet, simpler + quicker + easier to resolve payouts with a 5-card stud game using a paytable).

Texas Shoptout is one of my favorite poker based table games. I tried to get them to modify it to a flop and turn/river betting pattern like UTH. Good luck to you!

Good question, I withheld that to reserve it for a progressive but probably could have had it as an offering nonetheless. A lot of properties I talk to like using the AGS Bonus Spin Xtreme, which for poker games hits on a 3 card straight or better, and would play really well on this game.
