Suggestions and advice on pitching a bonus bet idea to gaming companies. I've done a some research but found very little information. Thanks!

I did. Nothing came up on this site on bonus bet ideas. Internet search also brought up very little so thought asking in this forum might yield more results.

File a patent first if possible or some of the companies will not even meet with you,
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

I had considered that but since it's technically not a "game" I didn't think it could be done. Will trademarking the idea be sufficient?

Trademarking will probably only protect the name. Do a patent search and see if any of the other side bets are patented, If they are, just copy the format and most of the wording and make it fit your idea. Issued patents are public domain so you can basically copy the most similar one and not have to get an attorney to write it for you.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

You may not be finding much info because it's most commonly called a "side bet", not a bonus bet.

This is most likely your problem here but even when patents are talking about the things you are looking for the language of patents sometimes makes it difficult to understand if you don’t know how to read them
In general You’ll see things like “method, system for playing” blackjack or whatever card game you are inventing this for
