Hi All,

I was wondering, would anyone be able to point me in a direction for sources of information on getting games approved outside the United States? In particular, I was looking at other big gaming markets such as the UK, European Union, Australia, and Canada. I imagine the process may also be regional within those countries as it is in the U.S. (for instance, I am almost certain it would be by a Province-by-Province basis in Canada). But any pointers to sources would be helpful! Just trying to understand the requirements and processes in order to get a table game approved in such places. And as a side note, information on getting things approved for online casinos (I know these are quite big in the UK, for example) would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

For Australia, these two sites could be helpful (I didn't contact anyone on the sites, so they may be "way off" on what you were asking for).
So far I could only find ones to do with NSW

https://ablis.business.gov.au/service/nsw/approved-casino-games-and-game-rules/32247

https://www.liquorandgaming.nsw.gov.au/community-and-stakeholders/licensed-venues/orders-for-approved-games-at-the-star-casino

Quote from the 2nd link above: "Each game that is available for play at the Casino goes through an approval process. The Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority Board (ILGA) undertakes this process and once approved issues an Order for the games."

So from that quote, it looks like your best bet is to contact the ILGA to try and get a game approved for the Australian market (but this is just a guess).

Update (about 330 pm)

Here are some more Australian sites that I think may be helpful (see links below)

https://www.communications.gov.au/what-we-do/internet/internet-governance/online-gambling
https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/C2016C00607

Also, In case you want to try and get patent(s) for your game(s) (see links below)

https://www.ipaustralia.gov.au/patents/understanding-patents/types-patents/what-can-be-patented
http://manuals.ipaustralia.gov.au/patents/national/patentable/2.9.2.9_games_and_gaming_machines.htm

Note: It looks like it is unlikely to get a patent for a game in Australia (but I only quickly read those links)

Contact GLI and BMM. They both do approvals for other countries and jurisdictions.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Thank you for all these links - this is fantastic!!

I'll definitely be reaching out to the ILGA. They seem like the right people to contact.

And yes, it seems like for the most part, table games can't really be patented in a lot of places. Alongside Australia and the U.S., this also seems to be the case in the EU.

Thanks again for all this! :D

Good call. Didn't think about it, but they must be pretty knowledgeable about the processes in other jurisdictions. Thanks!

It’s pretty simple in the U.K. as the casino does all the work and you don’t have to deal with various jurisdictions as you do in the States.
