The layout needs to mention the differing ante win / push circumstance.

You mean the “Must beat the dealer to win” rule?

To try and clarify/distinguish the true ante/qualify rule, what does everyone think about swapping out "Dealer Qualifies with King High" and replacing it with "Dealer King High Activates Play Wager"?

I suspect most people playing a 3CP variant understand the concept that the Dealer qualifies. The important messages are that in this game the qualification level is King-high not Queen-high and any differences [that on needing to beat the dealer to get paid] on the Ante wager.

Got it,

I'm just trying to find a good spot to place the "must beat the dealer" language...

Did you like the other revisions?

I think I may actually contour the bottom of the ANTE circle with "MUST BEAT DEALER TO WIN" (like I do with the "MUST EQUAL ANTE" contouring the Play). Waht do you think?

That should check all the boxes and still not be overwhelmingly cluttered.

I played the demo and definitely think the game is fun and would do very well in the casino, especially if you VERY VERY VERY MUCH COMMUNICATE THE PLAYER GETS 4 CARDS AND DEALER ONLY GETS 3. Most people will not understand the side bet making up for that and I guarantee you'll get a small following that think they have an edge while they play.

My only criticism comes from my own preference... I felt "free-rolled" whenever I got a pair. Knowing the dealer doesn't qualify A LOT more often and knowing I insta lose the side bet, the best I can do is win $100 and the worst I can do is lose $300 (most of the time). If there is any mathematical way to make the side bet pay table "push" on a pair that would be lovely. Probably not, but just a personal preference =D.

The unique "fun factor" in this game is that people get good poker hands and beat the dealer frequently. That's fun! However, the reality of the forced side-bet and optional bonus bet is that whenever you don't get a straight or a flush you are hoping to push (best outcome!) or lose only one unit. That's kind of sobering.

Ex: an AAKK is a 'good news-bad news" situation because you have a good chance of beating the dealer but with all those Aces and Kings in your hand the probability that the dealer will qualify with a hand that you can beat is diminished and your most likely outcome is to lose one unit.

But, as with any new innovative game, there is a new calculus involved. The player just needs to become accustomed to that fact that getting a one pair hand is -EV.

My suggestion is the play less on the option Royal Family bonus for that reason. I usually play 1/2 my ante on the RF wager. In that case, with a no qualify winner on a high card or pair, the lose is .5 units. On a qualifier winner with a high card or pair the result is a .5 unit win.

You hit a flush or better 27.8% of the time. This includes winning, losing and ties.

You will win with a high card or pair, with the dealer qualifying, 15.2% of the time.

You will win with a high card or pair, with the dealer not qualifying, 25.4% of the time.

The game is what it is! It is unique in that the player 'wins' far more often than he loses. Even though the house edge is similar to bad rules BJ, or Pai Gow, etc... It just feels better to have the 'edge' over the house. And the 'feeling' is what really matters to a casual player. Let me know when it gets installed in Niagara Falls and I'll be there for its opening. (US or Canada)

I think I will be there the second week of June so I plan on finding you and sitting down at the table and giving it a try!

I played the demo for about 15 minutes and this was my best hand. Overall, I really enjoyed the game.

Good luck with your trial, Brent.

I hope Galaxy/SG would not send lawyers after you for the IP relating to the "3 Card Monster" side bet AND the "=" on the layout. They do look like UTH and several of its variants. I understand you're a lawyer, so you must have studied their patents / received their blessings. Best wishes.

BTW, are your suit games still at Green Valley Ranch?

Thanks UC!

My suit games are not at GVR (it was Sunset station where the trial was). Revised 31 Classic is now approved in NV and launching this month in Miss (that will be its first placement). I’m excited about that trial as 31 has a strong following in that area and the pay table revisions plus the added side wager make the game play/feel much better.

I’ll start pushing 31 Classic again in NV after the 3CF trial. However, my expectation is for my focus to primarily remain on 3CF post trial if its successful as that game can pick up traction pretty quickly it seems.

All my games are available if anyone wants to install them. The only game lacking GLI or BMM certified math is Double Shot.

As we progress towards the GVR launch of 3 Card Fury on 6/13, I'm proud to announce that I am in the process of finalizing the details for the game's first California Tribal installation. Contracts are already in place, but I was asked not to release the specific details until the game is approved for launch.

I hope to have a few more to release before the end of the year.

Thank you all as always.

I think they're keeping Brent very busy at GVR or something. The game opened Thurs at noon. I've seen no updates since, but the picture I saw, it looked like he got a good floor placement. Hope it's going well!

Sorry for the delay, I’ve been pretty busy indeed.

The first 3 days have been very good. I’m just getting off the floor now at 1:30am when play finally finished. The drop has been more than management and I expected. So far each day we have kept the game open passed its planned hours due to player still remaining at the table.

Very promising start. Players have been sitting at the table for several hours at a time.

The game is continuing to maintain its play and the feedback continues to come back very positive! Players are really enjoying the extended time in device the game is designed to achieve and mostly all are leaving the table happy after their several hour sessions without a heavy investment. Most importantly we have been seeing a good deal of winners!

I have had a few players who have come back several days to play since it’s opening.

I am also proud to announce that I have picked up my first California Tribal install at the Eagle Mountain Casino in Porterville, CA. We are targeting an early August launch with a firm launch date TBD once training of the staff is completed over the next few weeks (the game is already approved and my license is granted).

All seems to be headed in the right direction!

Stay tuned.

Read the Wizard's page, and then checked out the game demo...thoroughly enjoyed.

The Wizard's page implies a 5% house advantage, where the math early on in this forum implies a 4% house advantage. Did I miss something?

Good luck -- I hope you are able to make this game stick.

The Wizard's page says that the House Edge on the game is 3.10%. The 5% house advantage is for the optional side-bet, not for the main 3 Card Fury game.

Much appreciated Indy! So far so good over here at GVR. Play continues to be constant and I hope it keeps growing from here. Most important is that the overwhelming majority of the players seem to share your opinion and keep coming back.

Baring any changes, we plan to launch the California Tribal debut at Eagle Mountain Casino in August 2nd.

Finally at the airport headed home from a fantastic launch trip. The first week and a half was better than I could have hoped/imagined. The drop on the game was higher than I could have asked and sustained throughout the entire period. We had seen several significant winners and otherwise the game played as it should and didn’t beat anyone up quickly (with a few exceptions as always), allowing for most players to sit for prolonged sessions and enjoy their time at the table. The most consistent comment, aside from players expressing that they really like the game, was that “they loved how they could sit at the table for a long time and enjoy themselves without constantly reaching into their wallet”. This was confirmed by repeat player throughout my stay.

As a result of the successful launch we have already begun preparing for the addition of progressives and a 7 card bonus side wager using the player’s four cards plus the dealers three. The progressive options that will likely be available are a five card progressive (players four cards plus one community progressive card to compete the player’s hand, which will allow for linking multiple games like UTH and Crazy 4 to make for very large progressive jackpots), a four card similar to the top portion of the Royal Family Bonus and a 7 card progressive similar to the side wager expressed above.

Very very promising start for the game and I should have a few additional installs to release soon on top of the California install already released.

Fingers crossed!

Please let me know what you think about this instructional/procedure video. I make two mistakes on sample hands one and four where I refer to the dealer's cards as the player's and calling the player's hand the dealer's and visa versa, but think it still should be pretty clear and serve its purpose. Please feel free to critique and offer suggestions.

I see that 3 Card Fury is now in the play-for-fun section at WOO. Very cool.

I am grateful for them adding it to the site!

If anyone wants to waste some time today, below is a web series I did this weekend discussing some of my games.

Let me know what you think!

So you're saying that, with the current legal uncertainties, the best way for designers to at least get some protection for their games is to patent/copyright (I'm not sure which) computer versions of them?

Nice interview. It's interesting to hear how designers are trying to roll with the covid punches. I guess you can take solace in the fact that your portfolio is diverse enough to give you some market maneuvering room.

God help the first time designers $50k in and now stuck in limbo.
Have you tried 22 tonight? I said 22.

I think all three (parents on physical/digital/electronic, trademarks and copyrights) are still smart. The big item that we emphasized was a lot of branding/trademark.

I was helping two people prepare for field trials for the first time before this all started. I feel their pain. We just have to hope vaccines and therapeutics become readily available soon so this all gets under control.
