I did a quick read of the previous football idea, but honestly the football scheme did turn me off to spending time looking at it (you are right on not using that approach at the start, I think). I will give this a longer look at, and then give some comments.Quote: vegas702Moral of the story? Even though my game has a football theme, I cannot bring it up when initially explaining the rules because it will confuse people who are initially trying to learn the game !!
First comment regarding patent:Quote: vegas702Eventually I presented my game to about 10 personal friends, who are all craps players themselves, to get their opinions. they all understood the bets just fine, but many of them kept telling me that the game might not be patentable because it didn't seem very unique and some said that "it's just like craps".
I'm not a patent attorney or agent, but the couple on this site can confirm this (and Jon has been extremely helpful in giving me an understanding of patents). The game of Casino Craps is public domain, so any similarity to Casino Craps specifically is not a problem (if your idea is non-obvious and there isn't a problem with its novelty), but any similarity to any sidebets or other variations of Casino Craps IS a problem.
Second comment regarding patent (this idea is similar to a patent from 1998):Quote: vegas702If shooter rolls the dice 4 times in a row WITHOUT rolling a 7 or the Point, then players win & get paid 7-5
In patent 5,829,748, Moore describes a "Four the Money Wager" in column 3, lines 34-36, that "If the shooter rolls the dice all four times without a seven appearing all money wagers made on money locations automatically win."
I think this is also the patent for the "All or Nothing at All" bet (described in column 6, lines 28-62).
Quote: beachbumbabsI think, in part, the poll results reflect a satisfaction with 7 (and traditional craps) as they are, and the willingness to play the game with the odds as they are, not as they would have to be revised to make SIX the "bad" number. See my signature line. Just my opinion.
Babs darling. I think most players would prefer a craps game where the losing number was 13 !
Quote: Buzzard" I apologize if I left anybody out " I accept that sincere apology from both you and your hat.
Welcome back buddy!
