I got an email from Caesars announcing ....wait for it...
The Cromwell, The Only Luxury Boutique Hotel & Casino on The Strip!
Does anyone else think that's a really dumb name?
Yea, it's a dumb name for Vegas.
I don't quite understand the concept of placing an "intimate" hotel at the busiest intersection.
They're downplaying the casino, so possibly they hope to channel into the success of Revel in AC.
Quote: Knuckleball3Wow, ya that's horrible. Where is this going to be located?
The old Bill's site.
I hate the name. Makes me think of a very posh hotel where old ladies sit around the lobby, drinking hot tea, pinkies out.

It made me think of the scene in Conan the Barbarian where Conan yells "CROM!!!!!"
But I haven't gotten much sleep lately.

Cromwell might seem random and arbitrary, but at least it is not outright stupid, nor is it part of the letter conservation movement.
For your consideration: THE Hotel, The D, SLS, M, The Quad, LVH
Go Cromwell!
Disclaimer: I am a hired shill. Also, a bigot.
New, sleek, yet empty.
A weird sight to see a long line of table games, dealers standing, trying to look attentive, with NOBODY playing.

Yeah, I did that same thing. On Monday, I went to the Max and Cromwell. I'm 99.96% sure that there were more players at the Max than there were at the Cromwell, even though the Max is 1/3 the size and off the strip. I suppose the Westin is a functioning upscale hotel and that may have helped feed players to the Max, but it was creepy how dead the Cromwell was.

I suspect that if things don't get better there, the suits running the joint will play the Russian variant of the game.
Eagerly awaits a page on the game... ;)

Shocking.

Possibly.

Sorry, they have four roulette tables.

I'm planning to add a page soon.
How long before players will j6st assme bj pqys 6 to 5 except in high limit room ?
I keqn jobody is gonna ask if the roulette tables were single zero.
typing on a tablet. The point I was m a king is that everyone assumes it will be double zeros on roulette table unless told otherwise, 6 to 5 will soon become the assumed payoff in bj. Or as the late w c fields so aptly declared Never smarten up a chump!!!Quote: IbeatyouracesSomeone translate this please :-P
Quote: WizardI was there last night. Here is a count of their table games:
Legitimate BJ: 4

This very high 6:5 to Legit ratio seems to be common in most strip casinos.
I wonder if any of those 4 Legit tables was less than $50 min.
With few exceptions, most of the Strip 3:2 tables that I saw were $50 min everywhere I went.
I recently did my own survey in anticipation of my next trip and Bellagio told me the do not have any 6:5.
But of course, that could change at any time.
Quote: TankoI wonder if any of those 4 Legit tables was less than $50 min.
They were at a $15 minimum when I was there.

They have one low limit ($25) Baccarat table with the Dragon Bonus. Dropped by there last Tuesday when I visited Vegas again. Man it is hot over there during the summer. Very nice hotel/casino. Good job with the renovation with the place. But really missed the cheap eats when it was Bill's.

6/5 Hit on Soft 17 BJ. LOL. This is the new normal for Vegas and all these folks still flock to them!

Of course they do! Don't you watch The Simpsons ? There's a "new" surefire way to win thousands at blackjack without getting caught!
Step 1: learn to count
Step 2: seriously, learn to count properly
Step 3: when the count is high, give the signal for your confederate at the bar to join the game and bet big
Step 4: leave before the security goons get their hands on you (no, I don't know why security didn't bother to watch all of the exits, since they have cameras pretty much everywhere)
Step 5: since they have your photos, return using disguises (no, I don't know why they just didn't go to another casino)
Step 6: under no circumstances do you let your dimwit husband have any idea where you are or what you are doing.
Step 7: if, somehow, your dimwit husband ends up being held in some casino backroom for some reason and is threatened unless the "stolen" money is returned, appeal to the casino's corporate owners (no, I don't know why they simply didn't respond, "Er, you are aware that holding him with force against his will is kidnapping, right? No, he's not trespassing, and "taking things into your own hands" earned O.J. Simpson a hefty prison sentence, so what makes you think you can get away with it?")
And why do I have the feeling that the ending of that episode (where Homer stands up for card counters and is promptly tossed out of the casino) was written by somebody who has been backed off at least once?
You (or anyone else) didn't happen to catch any low limit ($5-$10) Craps or BJ or tables, and if so I'll assume they would be in the 6/5 for BJ category?
From $99 ! (not including their resort fee).
The only saving grace is that Drai"s is still there, (oh the joy) but I guess it's on the roof now? Only $600 for bottle service by the pool for "Nelly" Damn I'm going to miss it.
Don't forget to hold your pinky out when you drink your beer.

I'd be surprised if they didn't; for a while, they've been advertising themselves to be the best value on the strip, with 3:2BJ and Single-0 roulette. Last time I was there, 25$ 2D 3:2 tables were pretty much empty, while there were other tables of lower limits that were packed, though I'm not sure is they were 5, 10, or 15.

Well, it was in the morning, but when I was there in June, they had a $10 craps game that was crowded - but I stopped paying attention when I saw the 9/6 quarter JoB machines. (You read that right - 9/6 Jacks or Better, 25 cents a credit, and yes it was the Cromwell)
Quote: unJonDoes the Cromwell still have 100x odds at craps?
Yes. 100x odds
And the double deck and shoe games often are $15 in the morning.

Caution of those 9/6 machines. They accrue points at $50 coin in to one tier credit.
Correct, thank-you. When I was playing for Diamond with whatever daily bonuses and seasonal bonuses were in place, I went to the CET off-strip property.Quote: YelruhCaution of those 9/6 machines. They accrue points at $50 coin in to one tier credit.

An often unheralded jewel.
Rooms? meh? I never care.
Buffets?
Buffet lines?
But 100x at craps, I want to watch that action and i'd sure love to be able to actually play it.
Beats trekking to Colorado to put $2.00 on the pass line and back it up with $50.00 in odds.

Really good drinks at the bar still comped while playing low level VP. I’m sure decent tipping doesn’t hurt but never had an issue and a close walk to the restrooms.
Little things matter to Boz and wife loves the Martini’s so it’s a must stop every strip trip.

It also doesn't hurt that they have the friendliest dealers on the strip. I once asked them why the dealers in Cromwell seem so much more welcoming than all those robot dealers on the strip, and they said the Cromwell does extra screenings in their hiring process to only hire friendly and bubbly personalities.
All the dealers I play with are friendly, and all of them know my name. I gave one of the girls a rose a couple trips ago.
I think the Cromwell is where someone I know got busted for counterfeit chips not long ago. He hasn't given me all the details yet, but I know he was playing at the Cromwell that trip.
