1. In particular, IP in Biloxi and MSS in Vegas. Table games only, preferably craps but any game please.
3. Compare/contrast with casinos in the same city.
Well that question kind of came off like an essay question, sorry about that. Any information you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated.
I got something like $5 in comps TOTAL (and I played $ video poker and my average at craps was like $50)
I've got some $25 midweek rooms for November and December...if that's much different than regular pricing...
I'm hoping the mailers get better...
Quote: TIMSPEEDI played quite a bit recently at MSS, both video poker and craps..

How long was your craps play? Is there a chance they only rated your video poker?
It may be on a seperate account that I can't see online (rather than slot points, table game "comps" are factored in seperately)
I just planned a trip for the week of thanksgiving, so we'll see...
B
Not sure if that helps ya.
My wife will run $40-$80 through the slots on my card, while I will play table games.
The first 3 trips I dropped $1,000 each time on the craps tables, in about as short a time as humanly possible, while not making any really big bets. All less than 1 hour of play. I think I noticed boxes of dry ice under their craps table..............
From that play, I was getting $10 free play offers, and some cheaper buffet coupons. Discount on headliner tickets too
The next 3 trips wife and I stopped in IP and ran through about $150 in slots. I have swore I will never play craps there again, although I suspect this oath will get broken (unlike my oath to never set foot in Atlantic City Casino again - 13 years and counting). Offers remained about the same.
Last trip, I bought into Pai Gow Poker for $400, played for 3+ hours, and won $400.
Wife was playing slots that whole time, on about $100.
I am now getting offers for $50 in slot play/month, and 2 free headliner tickets.
I get room offers too, but have never paid attention to them.
"Las Vegas Locals" (Orleans, Gold Coast, Sam's Town, Suncoast) are marketed separately.
"Downtown Las Vegas" (MSS, Fremont, Cal) are marketed separately, but have some overlap.
The "Midwest/South" group (La, Miss, Ind, Ill) are another group.
Borgata is its own animal and doesn't even use the BConnected card.
The fact is they are not as well integrated as MGM/Caesars and each property is different. But I like them a lot.
I play exclusively VP and UTH at Gold Coast and get about 2-6 rooms per month, sometimes weekends, no food. (But I eat pretty much free there anyways).
Fremont sends me two rooms per month (S-Th) with $10 food. I play exclusively VP there.
Suncoast used to send me really good offers with rooms and a lot of FP but they stopped. VP again.
Sam's Town has the WORST offers of the group, just BOGO rooms, no FP or food. Weak.
MSS sends the occasional room. Never got anything from the Cal. Probably cause I'm not Hawaiian.
IP Biloxi send me a small room/FP offer to set the hook. NEVER been there.
Sam's Town Tunica is extremely generous with three free nights anytime and 2 free buffets.
Indiana never sent me squat.
If you are going to play at MSS (and I recommend it -- it's one of the best properties in town), talk to the host Ipo Boast there after your play. If you give them any kind of moderate-sized action, you should get at least part of your charges comped, if not all.

I think MSS and the Cal share lists. I was able to get my room at the Cal comped based on my table play at MSS.
Me:
Orleans: Racked up something like 40k in action at a craps machine (bubble style) in a single day. Immediately got something like 15 free days the next month-cycle, most of them attached to free tournament invites, but a few I could pick the days myself.
Pushed myself up to ~100k card points total over the next four months, mostly at the same craps machine. Getting about 6 free discretionary days per month, plus 10-25$ food, plus some small amount of free play. Still upwards of 10 free days a month attached to tournaments. Also got multiple 'show up and play for X hours and we'll give you X00$ cash' invites. (If I show up for Christmas, they give me 100$ Macy's. No play required.)
Friend's:
Orleans: Table play rating might as well be nonexistent. After about 80 hours of 10$ BJ in a month, there were no communications worth mentioning.
A few months later, I pushed them to about 30k points via the craps machine. Started receiving free days.
Gold Coast: Unknown amount of 5-10$ BJ here, but not particularly much.
Got about 5k more points from machine sic bo. 2 free weekday nights a month, plus 10$ free play EVERY DAY.
Summary:
Table play appears to do practically nothing. They reward machine play pretty decently, in my opinion.
Additional thoughts: You don't get spending points for the craps machine, but you do get rank points to the tune of 1 point/dollar. I ended up doing large (by my standards) odds/don't odds bets to take advantage of that.
This is all very useful info. Boyd properties are usually very generous. I am trying to get to Emerald level, but I do most of my play at the Gold Coast because they have better video poker. I don't like the Orleans (where I lost my slot ticket), but I may try the bubble craps machine there as a cheap way to get status points.Quote: VenthusAll of my experience with Boyd is in the Vegas area, mostly at Gold Coast and The Orleans:

My perspective is that it is too easily abused when a human person has to rate your play, the corporate policies generally influence the ratings to be weak compared to machines where the ratings can be measured and consistent from one player to the next. Especially getting better ratings when you are winning. I think often that when you win or break even you won't get rated at the craps table, especially if you are not flat-betting and take a big bet out of the blue. It's likely not to get noticed.
Quote: teddysI am trying to get to Emerald level, but I do most of my play at the Gold Coast because they have better video poker.
When I was there about two months back, the sic bo unit was actually paying out cash points despite there being a sticker on it saying it doesn't. At 250k points for emerald, and how you can 'insure' a 30$ bet for 2$ (or was it 32 for 2, can't recall exactly), you can go from scratch to Emerald with an out-of-pocket expense of ~7813$. If you're playing on a bonus point day like I was, it was being counted as a slot. 12/12/12, they're paying out 12x cash points, so you're getting 5000$ back in the form of comp dollars if you spend it on their services/food, or 3000$ back in FP. This also discounts the remote possibility that the spaces you're betting on get the double bonus when it happens to hit-- paying out a win of approximately half your bet, minus insurance.
Summarized: The sic bo unit at Gold Coast was paying out points rather generously when it wasn't supposed to, if you just want to 'pay' for rank as opposed to, er, playing for it normally. Not recommended, but just a thought. (And before you place a single 200k bet on it to snag the rank... check it still works. =) )

I wish I was at the Gold Coast right now grinding 9/6 JoB w/STP with a 6x point multiplier. Missing Vegas already! :(
Grinding?! Last time I played that game I got a royal three hands in, and proceeded to give $700 of it back in the same session!Quote: tringlomaneI wish I was at the Gold Coast right now grinding 9/6 JoB w/STP with a 6x point multiplier. Missing Vegas already! :(

Yikes. That doesn't sound good. I just like the idea of full-pay STP. It doesn't exist in St. Louis. Gold Coast and Blue Chip in Indiana are the only places I have played it at full-pay.
Quote: ahiromuSo I lurk around here quite often and get a good amount of information about MLife & Total Rewards, but I don't hear a lot about Boyd. Would anyone mind giving me some specific examples of their play and what kind of comps they received?

I've been a Boyd gamer for near two decades. I'm not a big player by any stretch of the imagination but I do play for long periods of time. Beginning with MSS I believe this place along with the California are better comps as you build personal relationships with the employees. I don't usually pay for rooms and I mostly get my meals comped when I'm done playing through my runs. Example, two hours of craps, up or down less a couple c notes, and got a $26 buffet. So pretty good when you include the room.
I've played the IP in Biloxi 3 times since Boyd took over and have not gotten anything worth while. Hours of Craps and VP and not even a $5 meal.

I'm going to be staying at the Rio for a week at the end of the month. I was planning to walk over to Gold Coast to do the majority of my gambling on their 9/6 JoB STP. I really enjoy the STP, as it adds some excitement to the grind, as well as increasing the return.
I'm curious as to what sort of marketing comps are generated from playing that. I'm hoping to play quarters, 5 handed, for 2,000-4,000 hands over the week ($15,000-$30,000 coin-in). I'd really like to get some offers for free rooms later on this year. That will make it much more likely that I can convince the woman to make the long flight.

You'll get room and food comps of our next visit. Doesn't even matter how much you play really.

I didn't get to play that as much at the Gold Coast as I would have liked last trip. I still am pretty much in "tourist" mode when I go to Vegas. I got a random mailer a week or so ago with a calendar that discounted rooms a tiny bit with virtually no coin-in (a couple hundred bucks last trip, tops). Maybe the more "local" guys may have a better idea on the comps you can get out of that much coin-in.

Quote: VenthusThey tend to have a lot of multipliers, so there's bound to be another one starting up if it isn't on Friday. Gold Coast has a free shuttle to The Orleans and Sam's Town, I believe, every hour or so, so you can include them in your considerations too.
The Boyd shuttle system is divided into 4 service zones:
1. Bally's -> Gold Coast -> Orleans -> Bally's
2. Harrah's <-> Sam's Town
3. Sam's Town <-> Fremont
4. Sam's Town <-> McCarran
Huh. Never knew there was one to Fremont. That would've saved me the hassle of The D's parking garage last time. ><
Quote: VenthusAhhh. I must've gotten off at Bally's and got on at Harrah's last time. Whoops.

It used to be Bill's but they changed it to Bally's this week.

Quote: Multiplier promotion fine printBase points exceeding 100,000 on reels per day and 10,000 per day on video poker are not available for promotional point multiplier.
The way I'm reading this, is that I can earn 10,000 "base" points playing video poker, which would be multiplied by 5, for 50,000 points. Is this correct? Also, are these just comp points that are multiplied? Are tier points multiplied?

I ended up getting just over $15,000 coin in on that trip over the week. It was enough to get me a Friday and Saturday stay comped. I'll be there on 9/6 and 9/7, hammering the STP. I will definitely be able to get in more play this time, since I'm staying there. I'm also looking forward to the 2 days after that at Main Street Station. I got 2 weekday comp nights from them for just a couple hours of $0.25 10/7 DB.
Anyway, the pit crew must not keep in very good touch with marketing, or their computer system sucks, because they had my card and everything. Should have just voided everything, oh well. I'll keep out of the MSS for sure for a while. Might push my luck at some other houses on the chain. No card of course, this time. Was dumb of me before.
Can anyone refresh my memory on a recent court case and/or gaming decision? If I have a printed mailer inviting me back to the casino, can I return just to play some craps and avoid getting read the riot act (or the Trespass Act lol)? I will bring the mailer with me. "What do you mean I can't come back. You guys just invited me!" I would absolutely not play BJ in this case, I just like the micros there and the old-school feel of the pit. I would love to play craps there at the next WoVCon and not worry about getting my ass chewed.
