I am taking a weekend trip to Vegas on Friday. I would like to know if anyone knows of the best video poker machines today in Vegas. Last I heard was that Palms had the best return %. In 2011, I didn't have much luck playing video poker at the Palms and they also got rid of their best machines. I also hit the Royal Flush playing Jacks or Better at the Wynn a few years ago but they have also increased the machine advantage too. The Wizard of Odds has an outdated list from 2003 but I'm sure the list of casinos with the best video poker machines has changed a lot.

VPFree's list is here. They rate the Cosmo #1, but that's more because they don't have any bad games than because they have good games. Any of the Station casinos will have many games that return more than 100% to the player. Of those, I like Aliante Station. It's nice and new, but a bit out of the way.

I think Fitz's lose duces with the 101.76% is the highest, but it is a nickel machine.

Be sure to check denominations as well as pay tables and returns. If you can find a good VP only at a $5 machine, that does you no good if you're a low roller.

Yeah that is correct, be prepared to carry buckets of nickels down the escalator.

Do not bother going to the Cosmpolitan. Those VpFree2 rankings are only based on popularity and are outdated, anyway. This is one area I've suggested the Wizard could horn in on by providing a useful ranking of the best casinos for VP.

Here are my non-scientific rankings of the best:
(1) South Point
(2) Palms
(3) Main Street Station
(4) Gold Coast
(5) Sam's Town
(6) Rampart
(7) Four Queens
(8) Any Stations casino
(9) Fitzgerald's
(10) Las Vegas Hilton (LVH)
(11) Ellis Island
(12) Tuscany

I can't say I disagree with you too much. However couldn't Casino Royal fit in somewhere. I know they have 8/5 bonus at the bar and the rest of the paytables are comparable to the Rampart. I don't think they have JOB though. I have some real heartburn with Stations also. I realize that they have the 100% machines but they are few. I was at the Santa Fe recently and they have 6/5 bonus at the bar and 8/5 double double at the bar. We love locals my a**. If that is a place that loves locals why would they even have those paytables anywhere. That is as bad as any strip property. If you go to the rampart there are no bad paytables at the bars. They only lower paytables are when you get into nickel machines on the floor. They even have nickel triple play at the bars.

Without specifics it's hard to comment intellegently. But based on past experience, I'd take Teddys advice on VP any day (and twice on Sundays <g>).

Jeez, Boulder Station on that list didn't look too shabby.

Casino Royale is absolutely the best on the strip but it isn't good enough to make my list. I can't stand playing there, either. I can barely stomach Ellis Island, but their paytables are just too good :)

Stations does advertise 100% payback pretty prominently, but you have to seek it out. You won't find good paytables at their bars. Even the 100%+ machines at Green Valley Ranch are right by the doors so you get blasted with cold air every 5 seconds :(

I could do a whole 'nother list just based on bar games. My favorites are Fitz's and Main Street Station for bar play.

How's 'bout the 100.76 % Dueces Wild at Red Rock ?

It's (way) off the strip, but can be combined with a hike at Red
Rock Canyon ( or a scenic drive if it is too hot ). I like the
atmosphere there. And for some reason, those particular
machines don't seem to be too busy.

I don't mind Ellis Island. It's about as plain as you can
get, but I like the sirloin steak dinner there.

Yeah, I was gonna mention red rock also, but I figured...'what's the point?'. There's a group of these quarter machines by the doors not far from the poker room. Other Station casinos have these. Check vpfree2 and go there.
