If you're holding a 3 card Wild Royal, who cares what the discards are, so long as they're not a penalty? This goes for any game and exceptions list, not just the link above. But for example's sake, I'm talking specifically about the link above, so if somebody could point out why. I mean what hand could you form besides a Straight, Flush, or Wild Royal, using the high cards obviously, meaning discards below a 10 shouldn't matter so long as they're not suited with the Wild Royal attempt?

The answer is the discards matter if you keep the deuce only. If the discards are low it makes it easier to form a straight and straight flush keeping the deuce only, increasing the value of the deuce by itself above three to the royal.
