The suggested hold is JT suited, the correct hold is JK. (very small EV difference)

Since this is not the optimal strategy but intermediate strategy, is this an error on purpose so it's easier to memorize?

For the exact hand he used in number 43, it's an error. But the general strategy is correct because the intermediate strategy does not consider the effect of "penalty cards".

In optimal play, whether you hold KJ off or JT suited depends on the other 2 cards in the hand. If either of those cards are the same suit as JT suited (aka a flush penalty) then hold KJ off, otherwise hold JT suited.

This correct. Here is my optimal 9-6 Jacks strategy. You can see this situation is addressed in footnote D.
