I'll be going to a casino later this week and can play single line Pick A Pair (Pick'em) Poker at either the $1($5 a play) or $5 ($25 a play)level. Pay table is the 99.95% variety. My question is how much money would I need to bring to play this? I do not play super fast nor do I play slowly. I understand the variance is very low and strategy is a bit different but I have been practicing. Now, I do have plenty of experience at $1 5 play 9/6 DDB and know that at that level of play ($25 a pop) that I can (and have) dropped 2 grand in less than 2 hours. But I am thinking the same bankroll ($2,000) would last much longer at $5 ($25 a play) Pick'em. I am going for a day trip so realistically I would only have 8-10 hours max of play time. How much bankroll would you bring for the $1 level or $5 level given the length of play time available?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Don't let the "low variance" number fool you. You can get your ass handed to you in Pick'em just like any other game. At $1 denom, losing $500-$1000 an hour is not uncommon. If it's a bad day for quads, you're probably going to lose. If you're going to play for dollars, I would definitely bring a few grand with you if you're determined to play for 8 to 10 hours.
And pay attention. Because it seems that when you make a mistake at Pick'em, it is usually more expensive than making a mistake at other games. Typically, anyway.
Good luck, maybe you'll hit a 350,000-1 shot for a royal. Stuff happens. I've hit three of them, but I was over-royaled for my limited amount of play at this fun game.

'Emergencies' have always been the pretext on which the safeguards of individual liberty have been eroded.

I'm not determined to play 8-10 hours. That would be the realistic amount of time I would have at the most due to a 3 hour commute to and from the casino. I'd like to get there and start playing by 9am and be back not too late in the evening. I would be fine with 3-4 hours of play. I just don't want to blow my bankroll in an hour if I decide to do $5 Pick'em. I am leaning toward $1 but a friend said if I'm willing to play 5play $1 DDB then I might as well play $5 Pick'em. Same $25 bet but at 99.95% vs 98.98% return. I realize if I don't get quads then I'm screwed no matter what I decide to play. I just do not want to be under bankrolled if I do the $5 Pick'em ($25 a play).
