Okay, out of all the different games you can play (i.e.: deuces wild, jacks or better, whatever)....what is the fewest number of cards you can "hold" and be a guaranteed winner?

3 cards for three-of-a-kind is the minimum. It's a guaranteed winner is most games except deuces wild.

Isn't it an easy answer of 2. All games you can hold 2 cards and win but I have a feeling this is too easy of a question to be that straightforward.
Is getting your money back considered a winner? If not then it would be 3.

Getting money back is considered a winner.
Although 3-of-a-kind is also considered a winner as well. I guess I shoulda clarified, as any paying hand.
Btw, there's a reason I put "hold" in quotes.

The real answer is ZERO or one. Tell me how?Quote: RSOkay, out of all the different games you can play (i.e.: deuces wild, jacks or better, whatever)....what is the fewest number of cards you can "hold" and be a guaranteed winner?
2 in joker poker is a fair answer. I'm wondering/thinking there may have been a 3 card VP variant where a single ace payed(probably something I just imagined. There have been bonus type games where perhaps a special card paid.

Nice one. Although if someone's an idiot and intentionally loses, it's not a guaranteed winner.
