The main risk I can see is if I were to hit a hand pay on a machine that has her player's card in it. What happens in this situation? My guess is that the casino has to pay the hand pay, and to the oerson that was at the machine. There just may be a firm talking-to about not using someone else's card. Is this a fair guess?
Any other reason not to run some play through my spouse's card for her when I go?
I believe with Boyd that comps and bonuses are based off of a joint account, if you "link" them.
In LV, it is pretty common to play on family members and friends cards. I know this because I get pissed when I have been behind someone at a kiosk, activating FP and offers on numerous cards.
WOW!!! that's some serious stuff, when did this law happen ,has this always been the case, can you provide a link or information?Quote: kewljI recently learned that in Pa, it is against the law to use another players card, with or without their permission. The maximum penalty is 1 year probation and a $5500 fine. There is currently a case against 4 players that have been charged. They are known advantage players though. I can't imagine any jurisdiction doing much against a husband and/or wife playing on each others card.

I don't know how long the law has been in effect, nor whether it has ever been challenged and will withstand a court case. I also have no link. When this info was told to me in the last week, I looked for info on such a case but found nothing. But I can assure you that the info was told to me by a very credible fulltime AP that I know well (member of this site, but very occasional participant). He knows the players involved firsthand.
BTW, without admitting anything (I KNOW nothing ---Sergeant Shults), my interest in the case was the fact that I have friends in Pa that I visit regularly. I am not saying there is any illegal (by this Pa law) use of players cards going on....lol
I have no doubt there is a case going on, however I'm certain there is more to it than just people using other peoples cards.Quote: kewljI don't know how long the law has been in effect, nor whether it has ever been challenged and will withstand a court case. From your post, it sounds as if I had my friends card, and I put it in a slot machine, play 1 hand, it is illegal to do so there.
Can you ask this person for the specific law that he is referring to, or a place we can find it?

I am relatively sure it is about them being a group of known AP's. As, I said, I doubt they would harass a husband using his wife's card or even friends card.
BUT, the law had to have been on the books, for them to even go there. That shouldn't be too hard to find. I am not going to do it. I read through Pa regulations when they first got table games, looking for information about whether Pa had the right to bar/ban players or not and it was all too much legal mumbo jumbo for me.
One time I was playing the electronic roulette machine. Betting $10 on red just to pass away the time.
I told my wife to play for me and just hit the repeat button as I wanted to get some fresh air and use the toilet.
When I came back 15 minutes later 2 suits were standing behind her. I was told they kept asking where is Mr..... and why are you playing for him.
This is serious enough to be criminalised?
In OP case he will probably lose his hand pay if he get to play long enough and could even be charged with an offence.
My guess is that this could amount to cheating.
Some players could get family, relatives and friends to play on his card and get top rating on his card.
Then he could have supplementary cards for family members and take advantage of all the Comps and privileges from his card.
The casino will be out of pocket and cheated in this sense. This is the only explanation I can think off.
