this thread is about deal/draw, not dstp.
back to my question:
Why is variance lower in deal/draw (triple double bonus) than regular tdb?
in deal/draw, you're doubling the coin-in.
I would have thought more coin-in would ADD to the variance?
case in point:
regular tdb has a variance of 98.
deal/draw (tdb) has a variance of 85.
heck, short coining deal/draw (tdb) with 9coins has a variance of 36?!
(according to Wiz's vp analyzer)

Probably because it's really two separate games. The deal game and the draw game.

ok, but how the heck do you get an overall variance of 36 if the draw game is 98?!
even if the deal game had a variance of 0, the lowest the overall variance should be is (98 + 0)/2 = 49.
