Hi everyone,

I have been wondering, on Video poker if the cards on a draw are already pre-determined by the initial shuffle, or the timing of when someone presses the Deal button make a difference on the machine as if a random number generator is run when the deal button is pressed to determine the draw cards?

Any insight would be appreciated.

In Nevada it's five and five. So two random events occur.

Edit: Yeah, it takes place when you hit the draw button. So the timing does matter. Obviously, you can't control it, though.

I believe that it changes based on the maker of the machine. One type holds the 10 cards, 5 out and 5 ready to go and the other pushes out 5 and continues to shuffle the rest until the draw button is pushed. I do not remember which machine maker is which ?

What about the card placement on the draw? Lets say I have a choice to hold a pair or 4 with a gut shot straight chance. I decide to hold the pair, which are the 2nd and 3rd cards on the board. When I draw, is the first card that comes out in the first spot that card I would have gotten had I held the gut shot straight chance, even if the discard for this hand would have been the 3rd spot on the board?

Edit: Misinterpreted the question. I really don't know the answer.

I think the question was in terms of how the game operates on the draw. That is, holding the pair and looking at the cards you get on the draw, can you tell what you would have gotten if you had held the other way. Assuming, of course, that you hit the draw button at exactly the same instant.

I believe they just come out in order. Which ever card is first to come out drops into the first available slot and so on.
