I'm going to Vegas for March Madness and plan on playing VP for the first time ever. Mostly at Red Rock and downtown. I'm assuming if I only play FPDW that I will get nothing other than the minor points. Is this correct? If not, what can be down to improve the return elsewhere? I'd primarily want free/cheap rooms. I'll probably be about $15k-$20k coin in.

Red rock will take you out back, kick you in the nuts and call it a day for that(figuratively), even on a -ev full pay game. Anywhere downtown (plaza, d, 4 queens, Boyd properties, el Cortez) you will get room offers and at most a small amount of freeplay. Boyd non downtown properties are better than stations at treatment of non local players.

screw it, I'm tired of mentioning the SLS ,LAST TIME I DO (OK.... PROBABLY NOT) 1000 coin in got 2 free nights without a host. I can only imagine what a little tip and some sweet talk will do for you (with 15k coin in)

Why anybody would want to stay downtown over the SLS I have no damn idea. LOW LIMITS, FAIR PAY TABLES, BRAND New casino, hot babes, great food and awesome prices.

Seriously? I wouldn't stay at SLS if it
was 100 coin in and a week of free rooms.
Crappy part of town. DT I can walk
to 8 different casinos in a few minutes.
From Sahara's you walk 300 feet before

this coming from a guy who hasn't been to SLS period or that part of town in a long time. there are many people who wouldn't step foot downtown yet are happy to stay at SLS

many people might think you have low standards

there's no question SlS is far superior to any place downtown

I guarantee you there far are more problems on Fremont within 1 minute of any direction then the nine minutes it takes to get to the Riviera and the strip casinos from there

many people ask me to get the rooms in Las Vegas, almost none ever want any place downtown, no one has ever turned down the SlS

SLS has access to the monorail, which can safely and conveniently take you almost anywhere on the strip plus Westgate (LVH) in just a couple minutes. Better, faster, less crowded than the Deuce. Locals cost is $1 for the monorail, although I doubt that does much for the OP. lol.

That sounds like a very good deal. How did you get the hotel stay offer after 1000 coin-in? Did you wait for the mailer? SLS has low-limit 9-6 Jack-or-better . I don't mind to give them few thousand coin-in action when variance is low.

No they don't have 9/6 jacks. They have a limited selection of games better than this though. But playing those may not get you 2 free nights on $1k coin in.

On another forum I post at, it sounded like people were getting horrible offers from SLS.

I went there last month. As I remember, I found few machines offer 9/6 jacks in SLS. Anyways, they can always change the pay tables and games. The vpfree2 does not mention about Jack or better in SLS also.
