Quote: mickeycrimmOn his site, Alan is reporting a $5 8/5 DDB royal progressive at $71,000 at Rincon as of late last night. Apparently Rincon took out some progressives and hung the money in this progressive. Anybody care to jump into action? Good luck getting a seat.
Alan says there are only 5 or six machines in the bank. Bummer for anyone getting there late.
Quote: phendricksA play worth $740+ an hour? This won't last too long. 31,000 hands before the jackpot is gone.
This has always been my kind of a royal race. On a five machine bank with 5 players cranking out 1000 HPH the average seat time on the play is a little over six hours. As a lone wolf player, not a team player, I would much prefer there were 10 machines in the bank to cut the average seat time down to 3 hours. I played a lot of royal races like this in Laughlin, Reno, Tahoe. But a marathon player I'm not. I don't want to be there for 12 hours or 18 hours or 24 hours. I want it short and sweet. Either I get the royal or somebody else gets it then we all take a break.
Quote: AyecarumbaIs it legal for them to strip the other machines of their progressives to fund a different game? If so, why didn't MGM do this with the "Lion's Share", instead of waiting 20+ years? Are the laws that different between Tribal joints in California and "regular" ones in Nevada?
In Nevada progessive money belongs to the public. So if the casino disables a progressive they have to hang the money in another progressive. This has at times provided opportunities for AP's. I don't know what California law is. Here in Montana whenever they put a new game on a platform any progressive money in the other games on the machines disappears. This has been a thorn in my side for years as I now have to wait a few months or more for plays to develop on those machines again. I don't know whether it is legal or not but I don't care to introduce myself to all the wrong people to find out. And I certainly wouldn't want to do anything to rock the boat as it is, i.e., them taking games off because they can't steal the progressive money anymore.

I should change the above statement to "And I certainly wouldn't want to do anything to rock the boat as it is, i.e., them taking games off because of a controversy over the progressive money."

MGM could have done that. For whatever reason, they chose not to. Probably because they knew certain players liked the game.

Also, if I recall from that thread correctly, the Progressive to which the jackpot is moving must have the same probability of hitting as the Progressive machine(s) from which it was moved.
You can move the money to better odds, but not worse.Quote: Mission146Also, if I recall from that thread correctly, the Progressive to which the jackpot is moving must have the same probability of hitting as the Progressive machine(s) from which it was moved.
Quote: JackStraw8004Astounded that there were seats open.
There wouldn't have been in Vegas or Reno. But in an isolated location like that how many pros could there be with the bankroll to swing at a play like that?

This strategy is called Max EV. When you have all independent agents, or a mixture of a team and independent agents in a royal race, everyone uses this strategy. But if a team would have come in on this play and locked up every machine I think they would have used the 100% strategy. This strategy is based on the game having exactly a 100% return which produces a royal a little over 36,000 games. The purpose of this strategy is to milk the meter for all it's worth. In this case it was a 1% meter. So the meter speed alone, with five players cranking out 1000 HPH each, is worth $1250 an hour.
Saw your post yesterday at work about 1:30 and was at Harrahs by 3:45. Bank was empty. About an hour later the other guy showed up who was there from 5-1030. Throughout the day maybe four or five civilians came and played and busted out within 15 or 30 minutes max. At one point during the world series I was playing solo for about 2 hours before the other guy came back. He wasn't a pro. At one point I saw him playing ACE$ bonus cause he was switching machines a lot and I thought he might have accidentally not realized it switched games. I had a moral dilemma on whether to tell him or not and decided to tell him and then he said "Yeah, I like playing this one from time to time cause it pays 2 on two pair" lol!! Super nice guy though.
At no point were there more than 4 people on the bank of six machines. At one point this Asian guy sat next to me and I heard him make a phone call to someone and say yeah you need to get on a plane right now. You can be here in six hours? OK, see you then. He sat at the machine for probably an hour and made three more phone calls and was speaking Chinese in all the other ones. He eventually realized that there were still open machines and people weren't coming and he left at like 9.
In 7 hours I stood up from the machine exactly one time to crack my back. No bathroom breaks. No eating. Just pure grinding and it was absolutely horrible! I don't know how people can do that more than once in awhile but I salute them. I Was prepared to go for two days straight when it finally hit in all his glory. Was down 13k when it hit for 74,785. Nice 61k profit for the day. I guess I need to post the picture to an image hosting site, or is there a way to do it on the forums themselves.
Oh and also I told that lady that I heard about it from Alan's site because with all the casino people right there at the machine I didn't want to bring up the wizard's site.
So thanks for the heads up! I'm glad it didn't cost me 60k :)
Damn it sure is pretty.

Congrats, awesome win and a great AP play.
Quote: AyecarumbaCongratulations Ozzy! Was the strategy to only go for the royal, or were you still playing basic strategy for the game?
The wizard has a calculator thing where you can put in the value of the royal, well the value of everything really and it will spit out the proper strategy. Yes the strategy was kinda weird. KTs > KQ offsuit, 3 to a royal was better than 2 pair. there was one hand where i had ace ace king king double suited and then the queen in one of the suits so I went for the royal. It still recommended holding 4 to an inside straight, so the strategy doesn't change so much that you are throwing away hands you normally wouldn't, but the royal value did go way up. Small pair was still better than QJs.

Great job ozzy!!! And nice pull!
I reformatted this for others because the link/host site used gave me scammy pop-ups to go with the pic.

I just got in from the bar. I'm pretty drunk. But I just have to tell you, Ozzy, nice job, brother. And very exciting story you told about it. I'm glad a strategic gambler like you hit it. I don't hang out with the ploppies other than to say "Hi, how you doin'" or say "very nice to have met you." Those statements are not pointed at you. They are pointed at the ploppies. You, Sir, did a very nice job. You make guys like me look good. That's the right thing to do. From my position, up here in my little Montana home, when a person exposes a play on the internet, like Alan did, you can bet I'm not gonna leave my little Montana home over it, but you can also bet that I'm damn sure going to expose the play to my fellow AP's down in Nevada....or California....or Mississippi....or wherever the hell they are at.

Wow! The three card catch. I always love it when that happens.
Think someone said they took a progressive off one bank or machine and put it on that one. Anyone know what it was?
Accidentally flagged one of mickeycrimms post oops.

Yeah I know I took the risk, and could have suffered a nice beating, but still if not for the kindness and thoughtfulness of a man 1000 miles away who I will probably never meet, I'd have 62,000 thousand less dollars in my bank account right now, so that deserves at least a heartfelt thank you!
And thanks for all the congrats everyone, I assume it doesn't count as a duplicate post if I post the picture into the Big Wins forum, does it? :)

Quote: mickeycrimmOzzy, Alan is asking me questions about the amount of action you ran and something about GGWU points whatever they are. If you were on the bank for 7 hours I figure you must have ran somewhere between $150,000 and $200,000 in action. Alan knows the Rincon system pretty well and figures you might get swamped with freeplay offers in December.
I was playing pretty damn fast, which could be bad cause towards the end I was making some mistakes. I know I held two suited big cards over a small pair twice (was in royal tunnel-vision mode), not noticing them til right after I hit deal. And also once I held AKQJ over KJ suited, since thats the right play in 8/5 bonus poker and realized right after I hit deal. My play time was slightly under 7 hours, I will be curious to see how many points I got. Every time I got a hand pay they took the card out so there wasn't a counter in front of me and their site hasn't updated those points yet. I would hope I got closer to 200k than 150, but when I find out I'll let you know.

I'd like to know as well with $ coin in and what kinds offers you get. If you don't wanna say, understood.
You said you hit several other jackpots. Anything else worth posting? AWAK?

Nope the biggest jackpot I've ever hit at vp was 5000 for a royal on 99.92 Joker Poker.
