Quote: dwsblueI'm sitting playing double double bonus today at the casino and get a hand I don't know how to play correctly. I pull out my phone and open the wizard's app, pull up analyze hand, enter the cards and I've got the correct play. If you don't have all the correct plays memorized this is much better than carrying around strategy cards. I used it a few time without any heat from the casino staff. Thanks Wizard!
be careful about doing that. Using an electronic device to play a game can be illegal in some states.
Quote: teddysYes, it is great. I bought an Apple device exclusively so I could get the Wizard's app. (I find I like the device itself now too). I hope nobody ever calls security on me for using the app.
You could argue that this is a felony in Nevada (as well as all the states that pattern their law after Nevada), but I guess you already know that.
Whether they would care or not is another issue. I'd guess, probably not, unless they already don't like you for some reason and want to get you on a technicality.
IIRC, from listening to GWAE, Bob N. specifically suggests that you don't do this, and that you copy the strategy down onto paper and use that at the machines. That's what I do (I always have the strategy in my pocket in case I'm unsure about a hand)
Quote: dwsblueIt is a sweet way to check a hand, but I'll go back to paper to avoid any problems. Thanks for the feedback.
I would check by paper but you could write the hand down and get further analysis when you leave that way the next time it happens you will know what to do.

Although, teddy is a lawyer and he says that he uses the phone. Basically, I think it's all about your level of paranoia. I think that the chances of something bad happening are pretty slim (particularly if you are not an AP) but, even if it is unlikely, it is possible, and so I always try to keep the law on my side, just in case. But then, I'm paranoid.

Too high a price. Quite literally too high a price ;)
Quote: MidwestAPDoes anyone know if this app ever made it to the Google Play Store? I searched but couldn't find it.
I thought the Google Play Store was Android only. This app is iOS (iPhone / iPod Touch / iPad) only.

I asked the Wiz about an android version about a year ago.
His answer was that he doesn't sell enough apple versions to put time into developing an android version.
A big (the greater?) part of being a lawyer is not just telling people the letter of the law, but how strictly it is going to be enforced.Quote: AxiomOfChoiceAlthough, teddy is a lawyer and he says that he uses the phone. Nareed -- I bought an latest generation iPod touch for $143 that runs all the iOS apps and has wifi. I am really enjoying it so far. It is like a bootleg iPhone.

Right, I understand this.
But, say the casino really did not like you for some reason (like, you are an AP or a penguins fan or something). Couldn't you see them trying to get you charged with a felony over this, just out of spite? Do you think that a judge in Nevada would necessarily throw it out?

I'm glad you enjoy it. But I stand by my Apple slur.

They could, but I would think they would get a lot of flak over it if they prosecuted. I would think they might do it if it's painfully obvious your presence there costs them a lot. A casual player should never get busted for it, other than a "sir, you can't use that in a casino".

I talked to Jim Wolf (Wolf Video Poker) and he doesn't think there is any money in it either.
