Well. I have now received my funds and went my own way. This is the mini trip report $:o)
Winnings from Mike=$14
Received from Mike=$15 by paypal ( Don't ask )
US$15 is damned near GB£14 so I credited £14 to my online casino balance, not accepting any bonuses.
My objective was to prove that progressives do work* and to turn that into a £25 bottle of JD, with which to toast (y)our success.
I then proceeded to use the following progression with the online BlackJack offering: 1,2,3,3,3
And I took a screen capture for your amusement.
Did I bust out?
Did I reach and cash out £25
Watch it and see... Have the sound on for maximum amusement.
Vid Capture of my 'Trip'
I'll be investing it in a bottle of JD and look forward to toasting the success of the team parlay.
*progressives. LOL. They don't work. Define 'work'
I think it's awesome that you video recorded your session.Quote: OnceDearYayyy. So we took money off The Wizard and there's a team pooling their funds to try to increase them.

Vid Capture of my 'Trip'I had 14 games in total.Go on watch the video. It's only 4 minutes longOh alright thenBankroll never fell below £13. I did indeed reach £25 and have now requested a cash out back to my paypal account.

GOOD JOB!!! however you made a strategy mistake.
The real question is... Had you lost would you have posted about it? Next time it would be more fun to let us know prior to your session.

I perhaps should have pre-announced it, but to answer your question YES. I had decided that I would have one shot at it and would post it win or lose the session.
Before the session, I'd already decided that $25 would be my absolute and final target. You have to take my word for that.
Winning would be no big achievement: Losing would not damage my street cred too much. Amusing either way.
The only prep I did was a couple of test captures to ensure that my recording device worked properly and a 'play money' session where I attempted to turn my balance of $560,000 into $560,011 without going below $559,986 I can't even remember how that went.
I suppose I did, in open ended manner: My prior mention of my tripQuote: beachbumbabsI thought you did announce it, fwiw, and got some.pushback on it as well. Congrats on parlaying your bet, and I hope we give you something to toast!
Question, I guess for Romes/Mike? What order of target is the team parlay looking to have? I don't understand Parlay cards.
Is the objective to maybe double the bankroll, or to push the envelope and aspire to much more profit, with commensurate risk?
Quote: RomesIt was stated in the thread I think most people would be pretty happy with about $50 or more... and with 21 slices of the pie the math is pretty simple... We'd need $1050 or greater, which we can definitely do with the 1/2 parlay cards. We'll probably have several bets with the potential to win that, or more =).
Cool.
Well my 'parlay' took me four minutes. I'm up for wasting that £25 and four more minutes.
Let me know when you have matched an equivalent of $25 per person and we will start a race from there. I'll document my success or failure in reaching £50 from my £25 and I'm sure you will document your success or failure in hitting $1050 ( ignore currency conversion trivia.)
So, I hope you get to the starting line. I'll be waiting.
It could be a fun race, shit or bust. $50 or £50 per person equivalent
I didn't see the rules of that BJ or if you were using a bonus.Quote: OnceDearCool.

Let's assume no bonus. You're playing something with -EV or close, the parlays are +EV in the 3% to 10% range depending on the situation.
But that's not really the point anyways.
You'll probably get drunk off the JD and donk off a few hundred anyways (-;

99.59% rtp
No bonuses in play.
If Romes takes me up in the 'race' wager to £50 / $50 I should be obviously expected to lose. It's just a conversation piece.
All I'd have to lose is my £25. All I'd have to gain is another £25
Romes would be playing with about $525 of team funds to win another $25 for each of his team buddies.
It would be fun. Pitching dumb ass Money Management against skilled Advantage Play.*
And I'm pre-announcing my inclination to partake.
Of course Romes has to catch up with my current 80% growth spurt before the race can even commence.
Ya got to see the amusement value in that. Humiliate the cocky Brit or Submit to the power of 'Systems' and Variance.
I'm up for it.
By the way, I say this while in a JD stupor
$:o)
* Skilled AP should whup my arse.
with the parlays you Win big or lose a little often. You could just bet Marty or something and win a bet.Quote: OnceDear99.59% rtp

Yeah. I know. Good isn't it. scared of Marty winning.
Romes has said that he more or less aspires to $50 per head. If he takes the risk of getting more, then I reckon I'll beat him, because I'll endeavour to limit the risk of more than doubling my money.
My probability of success close to 50%
His doesn't start till he matches the luck progress that I made so far.
As I see it, we get the two interesting possibilities...
Intelligent AP play beats dumb ass systems, every time.
or
Dumb ass money management system can beat AP if variance is embraced.
Neither is true, of course, over the course of so short an experiment.
Or it's a tie. Honours even.
That's 4 possible outcomes
Romes Succeeds. I Fail. Dammit.
Romes Fails. I Succeed. Ya Boo! 20 annoyed team members
We both Fail. Grrrr.
We both succeed. We live to play another day. Everyone's happy.
What the heck. Fun Fun Fun. We all enjoy that.
And the skilled AP would, in the long run =). Any 1 bet you may get lucky you may not... Any skilled AP looks to realize his advantage.Quote: OnceDear...* Skilled AP should whup my arse.
I'm not taking any side action on it, didn't know that's where you were heading... As Axel stated, there's a decent chunk of variance involved with the parlays, even with an advantage. When there's that much variance it's pretty stupid to make a "one time" bet.
When we win, maybe I'll buy 2 bottles of JD to flaunt to you ;-). j/k... we all know it's hookers and blow! lol

Tee Hee Romes running scared of money management in the short run?
This is just for fun and conversation value. No side bet except the laughter of the winner in a race between skilled +ev AP and dumb ass money management.
Both will be using a low sample size, highish variance approach. Me with my dozen or so BJ hands and you with, whatever stuff you do.
I rather hope we both come out ahead, because I don't want to end up saying 'Yah boo, progressives rock: Rat prospers as team crashes and burns', when I know they don't.
And I don't want Axel to smugly hollar something about the rat getting squished while the clever AP team prevailed. That would smart. But still if that comes to pass, it will be something to scare off newbie progressive believers with. My sacrifice.
Fact is, we're both pretty much throwing our funds at something not much different to a few consecutive coin tosses. Neither would be justified in any smugness.

I think there's a little more variance involved in parlay bets vs. coin toss. Our chance of winning something is maybe 15% or so on a 4 team parlay round robin. We need the Wizard handicapping it, IMO, since he spends so much time working in sports betting. No shade intended to Romes, but his self-identified strength is blackjack. I came in after Romes said the Wizard would be involved, and I hope he's smart enough to use the guidance he gets.
