McCarran is nothing special either. If you're spending a lot of time there, you're doing it wrong.
Have a good trip!

Bro no wayyyy!!!! YOLO!!!!
Be sure to come back and tell us about how big you bet and what extravagant comps you all get. Cant wait!
A friendly reminder, check with the MLife desk at the end of your trip and make sure you get rated properly (but don't be a dick about it). Of course, if you're already there on comps, you wouldn't need me telling you such minutiae.
Also, spend some time at Aria, between CZR-MGM, I really don't think it has an equal. Enjoy the city.
Edit: Came off like like I knew you were on comps, which you probably aren't considering it's your first time there, just a poor use of words by me.

My wife and I have considered staying at the Aria, but we get pretty good offers from the Cosmo; coupled with the Marriott connection it kind of keeps us locked in with them. The Aria has some great restaurants, bars, and a nice gaming area, but how are the rooms? Any idea how they compare to the Cosmo?
Should have specified, my comment was directed at their casino, I enjoy the atmosphere and the dealers/floor have been pleasant on every trip.
Quote: ahiromuI have not stayed at either, I tend to slum it at NYNY-Monte Carlo to make some more room for food comps. However, I have a coworker that stayed at both... he was impressed by both but I think the Cosmo room got his nod of approval.

Thanks for your input. Also, I wouldn't call it "slumming it" staying at NYNY-Monte Carlo, those are hotels right on the strip and they are pretty good I hear.

WARNING: The buffet at the Monte Carlo is about a step or two below Golden Corral.

So you're saying it's ok to eat there as long as you take Imodium with you? Noted!
Could someone please tell me what I'm missing here?

Well yeah. That and some Ipecac syrup. You know, just in case.

I would say for some, it is a balancing act. Comped rooms vs better paytables, etc. I think it is a big game. They want your money, and you want what they will give you to TRY and GET your money. So spend ENUFF* time at Strip properties.
*TBD through trial and error.
First, the available nice rooms on the Strip tend to be nicer than the available nice rooms at off-Strip properties, and I'm past the phase of my life where I need to stay in a $29/night budget room for business trips to Vegas*. Second, for my part, I play craps so I mostly don't care about game rules. The passline is the passline everywhere and I'm not going to take a cab to play 10x or 20x odds when I can get 3/4/5x odds where I'm staying. The cost of the cab is far more than the EV savings I'd get for a 2-hour dice session. I mean, maybe I'd stay downtown or off-strip if I could control the dice and had a positive edge, but, um, nevermind.Quote: Sabretom2I just fail to understand how so many seemingly experienced players choose to spend so much time at strip properties.

*I'm actually at the phase of my life where I'm considering a business condo in Vegas instead of hotel rooms, but I just found out there's not much of an up-front write-off and otherwise it's hard for me to make the numbers work. I don't *need* a condo in Vegas, right?

No, but you should totally get one. I'll help look after it for you when you're not in town. I promise not to have any wild parties for at least the first month.

Yeah, me too. But please don't scrimp, get a NICE one !

I'm with the MathExtremist. I could skimp, and stay off strip; however, at this stage I prefer to stay at the commercial areas and enjoy what they have to offer with the convenience of staying there. Maybe the Fremont could area could be more economical room wise, but the wife and I get pretty good offers so staying on the strip isn't a bad deal. Dice control or influence isn't my thing, but if there are unbalanced dice elsewhere that skew things in my favor,.....

Ipecac,...that reminds me of a Family Guy episode

Wow, I can't pass up that offer. Time to find a real estate agent... :)Quote: RogerKintNo, but you should totally get one. I'll help look after it for you when you're not in town. I promise not to have any wild parties for at least the first month.
(Is there a market for short-term rentals in Vegas? I honestly have no idea.)

I was going to post an equation showing how the deal is beneficial for me but, honestly, it's above your elementary math skills.
There was quite a large number of one week leases in Vegas last I checked.
