Quote: Baccaratfrom79Have decided that it will the Tropicana (Las Vegas) for the upcoming trip. Wife decided on the Sky Villa rather than the Pool Bungalow suite, pictures posted in the previous TR, I had up. The host management at Tropicana extended us a very warm welcome and at least $1,000.00 in comp when we previewed their property this past week.
If we bring the kids, either grandma will come or one of my brother in laws, so day care/night care will not be a concern like it was this past trip.
We will go over to Palace Station as well as The Gold Coast which we could not do this past week.
I was promised a swim up baccarat table where they have the blackjack in the pool. I promised I would not throw the cards into the water, well at least I will make my best attempt not to.
Very cool - when is your trip?
April 23-28th.
Oh yeah Ace also likes those Skittles and not sure what the other one was, some kind of chocolate things???? Ace???
Quote: Baccaratfrom79AceofSpades should be in Vegas at the same time. Taking that into consideration, I am ordering up a huge bowl of M&M's, Apples and Gummi Bears to be placed in the high limit room at Tropicana. Frozen Cocktails right outside the room as well. Ace is a champ at the picture thing so I am sure he will be posting.

The were peanut M&Ms :)
Quote: 1BBMaybe you'll get 15 blackjacks in a row.
I won't do this unless Ace records it. I will be jumping up and down like a Phila Eagles fan seeing his team winning the Super bowl high on Pizza and Coney Island dogs. Seriously, up to Ace. I will be my regular self. By the way, I was actually ban for 24 hours from Mohegan Sun for being too loud. Get that, being too loud in a casino! ???
Quote: 1BBWow, that's not good. It's very unusual for that to happen to a low roller at this place, let alone someone betting thousands. Wrong place wrong time?
Baccarat in their original pit when they had the two big tables end to end and just started to bring in the Macau/Midi tables. This is the old pit where they had the VIP small free food lounge up top in the back. I was on the end of the table, winning, up well over $50k to say the least. I was loud, real loud and there was a Korean lady next to me. One of those that didn't know the Asian in my family so at times they tend to wager against you and it was very clear that is what she was doing. I pull the trick, place my wager and then they place theirs. A second before the cards come out, I remove my wager and you should see their face. But anyways, my buddy was on the other end of the table and he blows me away with his way of playing and screaming. We got on a heater and a few of the others were trying their best to knock us out. At the time there were more Koreans than SE Asians and yes, I understood quite a bit of Korean and all their cuss words (x wife and the Asian adult business in NYC, etc.). So the floor person, a lady, tells us several times to calm down--we just ignore her. All I remember is the Korean lady next to me slamming something down, probably an 8, I don't remember right now. I slam down a 9 or maybe she had a 7 and I slam down an 8? She says Mother F****ker in Korean and call me another name. I give it right back to her in English and the floor lady calls security and tells me I am banned from the floor for 24 hours for being too loud.
Quote: aceofspadesMakes my punching of the tables look tame
You haven't seen nothing yet Ace. I have punched and slammed the felt until my hand was red. I have graduated to stabbing the cards, throwing the cards and ripping them up.
Will you adopt me? ;)

After that, dim all the lights and have a chilled bottle or two
will do the Sun Buggy desert dune buggies. For shows I will bring her to the Frank Sinatra review and also the Motown Show-Human Nature. .
Whew, sounds exhausting. I could never pull
my wife away from the slots to do even one
of those things. Thank god. I see her when
she leaves the room about 11am, for an
hour at dinner, and again when she leaves
the room in the morning. I'm asleep when
she rolls in at 3am.
I go to Vegas so I won't have to spend time
with her, not the other way around.
Quote: Baccaratfrom79If Ace will record and post it, I will commit to playing about 15 hands of Blackjack for you guys. I detest the game but I will give it my best, wholehearted attempt to show you how to win a quick $15-$25k at the game.
Ace being willing to record it isn't the issue here.
Casinos don't like people taking pictures/making videos of the gaming areas. And ace doing this isn't going to be discreet.

I like the marriages you saw in the
50's and 60's. A man took his wife
to a vacay hotspot and she sat in
the sun in the morning, and played
canasta all day with other wives
under the pool umbrella. The
husband was off for 18 holes of
golf and 3 hours in the clubhouse
for lunch and cocktails. Has dinner
with the wife and do it all again
the next day. Men and women
have nothing in common, so the
men end up talking about what the
women want to discuss. Phooey
on that. It's why in the old days
the men went to the den for
drinks and the women went to
the parlor. Nothing is common.

Depends where you are at. Many times at the Bellagio we asked the floor person and always told, as long as those in the picture don't mind. Same at CP and same at PH. Always in the HL. I know at Tropicana we will be cool.

It's all changed now, women even drive Bob! I think you are probably remembering the 40's?

Quote: Baccaratfrom79It's all changed now, women even drive Bob! I think you are probably remembering the 40's?
Nope. In fact it went on into the 80's.
Men and women have little in common.
Ever listen to couples talk? It's almost
always about her, something she wants
to discuss.
In the bar, I always listened to people
have conversations. It was always
women/women or men/men.
Men/women never talked if they were
a couple. Here's the breakdown:
Women always talked about things in
this order. How they feel, how they're
doing. That's always a priority. Then
it's about their jobs, what's going on
there. Then it's the kids, if they have
them. Then it's gossip about people
they know. They rarely talk about the
men in their lives, unless things are
going badly. They just aren't interested
in men, unless they don't have one.
Men talk about sports, hobbies, the
news, cars, and sports. Guy stuff.
They rarely talk about women, even
if they don't have one. Or their kids.
You might say, oh, I talk to my wife
all the time about my work. My brother
in law does that. He goes on and on
and on about his job. His wife never
says a word because she's not listening
and doesn't care. She thinks he's a
blowhard, which he is.
From the beginning of time, nothing in
common.

Aren't there many species of animals where the sexes only come together to mate - then the rest of the time they stick to their own sexes?
Quote: Baccaratfrom79As long as you don't get other people in the pics it'll be okay.
I'll do my best!
Quote: aceofspadesAren't there many species of animals where the sexes only come together to mate - then the rest of the time they stick to their own sexes?
I thought they were mostly like that.
Aren't most animals raised by the
female? Human men have a tendency
to desert the female when the child
is about 4 years old and can take
care of itself pretty much. That's why
women invented marriage, to force
him to stick around. And to gain rights
to his property when he died.
Quote: Baccaratfrom79The handle now fell off, it was her favorite cause it was real light. She pack edit to 54.5 pounds last trip. Going they stuck an orange heavy tag on it, coming back they made us take out 6.0 as it was 56.0 trying to check in.
I thought they just charged you if it's overweight?

Yeah a few times as a kid - good times
Quote: Baccaratfrom79Correct, but mine was 42.0 I think, wasn't a problem. I think they said it would have been $100.00. The guy at the counter where we left from said no problem, but the lady at Vegas on the return said anything over 51.0 had to be charged extra. 2 bottles of Dom P and her make up case was transferred to mine, no problem.
Oh ok, so it's basically no issue then.
For what you're spending on the trip, that's nothing.
I thought maybe they wouldn't let you check the bag unless it was within a certain weight.
Quote: Baccaratfrom79This trip will be dedicated to saying "I Love You" to my wife, my heart and soul, to the most beautiful woman walking the face of this earth! To say thank you for our beautiful, funny, handsome, conceited, smart and loving little 2 and a half year old!
Besides getting her the sky villa she likes at the Tropicana, the spa, the private pool cabana and all that, I will take her over to Chanel @ The Forum Shoppes and let her pick out a new Chanel purse. Then from there, I will bring her over to the Vegas Premium Outlet Shops and let her shop until she drops. I plan to get her a new suitcase, the handle cracked on her other favorite 'Nautica' one on our last trip. So, when we get to the outlet shops I will bring her by a luggage place (maybe they have Tumi or something)? and get her a full size bag. Then I will say, hun-go buy stuff to fill it.
We have never been on the helicopters there or anywhere for that fact. (I have elsewhere before but not her) We will do the Grand Canyon by helicopter and also the night flight over Vegas. When we get back to the villa I will have a massage therapist give her a massage in the massage room that is in the villa. After that, dim all the lights and have a chilled bottle or two with chocolates and strawberry's. Reflect on the skyline and try my best at some romance.
Of course we will do the Sun Buggy desert dune buggies.
I will wine and dine her at Ferraro's Italian Restaurant across from the Hard Rock.
For shows I will bring her to the Frank Sinatra review and also the Motown Show-Human Nature.
Another wine and dine evening will be the Top of the World @ The Stratosphere.
Are you taking the two year old on this trip? What's it like having a baby in your mid 50s? Do they really keep you young?
As far as taking the baby and the other two, we will see-maybe. I we do my mother-in-law will come along so there are no problems with child care.
As far as keeping you young, never thought about it. Don't know.

The point is not the money of course. If the lady says, put 6 pound in the other suitcase or pay a $100.00, I would opt for the 60 second switch. I have lost thousands at work in the matter of minutes when there are calculated risks that don't work out. But I would save a few bucks with a gimmie like anyone else.
BTW, that trip with all the incidentals and things we did including eating off a CET Property and using my self comp express MGM Points I had and my MGM hosts comp'ing the Secret Garden VIP experience and the Mandalay Bay admissions, the comps at Red Rock and The Tropicana, total cost us under $1,000.00 including airfare.
Remember, I am not an AP'er or a card counter whatever making a $100k a night playing with false id's and getting 86'ed cause I am too good a player, etc. We have fun, win-lose or draw and enjoy the experiences and make memories, most good some is what life dishes out. But hey, like I said, we did the Disney world thing in 2013 also. The cost of seeing Mickey and Minnie and Goofy and some fake castle about the same as the Excalibur was right around $10k. I asked people at D.W. if there was a baccarat table somewhere and they said soon.............

The thing that's amusing about this, is that Disney leads the way and spends nearly all the money keeping gambling OUT of Florida (not sure whether they're active in California). They have spent millions lobbying for no gaming, but have little to no control over what the Seminole tribe does on their lands. However, the Seminole's gaming compact expires end of July, and they're meeting regularly with the legislature to negotiate a renewal, which may include real craps and roulette if they get their way.
Disney is opposed by several conglomerates trying to put resort gaming in, especially in Miami/Dade and Broward counties. GTECH Canada, Sands Corporations, Genting, not sure which others on a quick Google search, but they're lobbying hard to get it approved. So far, Disney has prevailed, but a majority (though not a supermajority of 60% as required to amend the state constitution; think it got 53-55% approval) of voters are increasingly in favor of it.
This article, while a year old, still reflects most of the current news on the situation. Makes pretty interesting reading.
