Quote: Mission146...your Variance with the Roulette could theoretically be almost nothing because you could just cover all 37 and knowingly eat the House Edge.
This is why I believe some free play is not allowed on machines that simulate table games. Generally the casino doesn't want you to do this, although the reasons why are baffling of course. They will get their cut via the house edge no matter how you bet.
The only question relevant to aceofspades is A) does the Aria even have these machines and B) is the play allowed on them?
Quote:Since 5K probably isn't much to you, if you're not inclined to sell it, I'd say just do whatever you think will be the most fun...as long as it's not a God-awful play.
This is the best advice in this thread, IMO.

Sure, the EV says you'll get 90% or so back, but any hit on those machines generates a W-2G. So You're throwing away over a grand in EV because of the tax situation.
For me it wouldn't matter as I pay taxes on my gambling winnings already. So no matter what I play it on, I'll be paying taxes. Call me a chump if you wish, I'm a rule-follower :p.
I don't know and wouldn't ask aceofspades's tax situation, but it is a consideration if you don't typically file taxes on your gambling winnings.

No progressive machines and no interactive machines (i.e. those blackjack.roulette.craps machines that have those video dealers)

There are other Roulette machines that don't have interactive dealers, perhaps not there, but generally speaking. They also tend to be lower denomination than the interactive ones.
Quote: PerditionWell it was long and pretty complicated.
I saw a Wonder Woman slot machine and I was like "I want to play that!"
I played it and lost 40 dollars.
I felt guilty after. :(
The end.
I had the same experience with a Star Trek slot machine. Except I think I lost $50. I was ashamed of myself for a week. :)
Quote: AyecarumbaMy recommendation is to give it to Momma Ace. She had to stay with Ace Sr. when he had to go to the hospital. Let her have at it on the machine(s) of her choosing and split the take.
LOL she didn't gamble even one penny on the trip
We are back home now and since it is only playable at Aria, unlikely she will go back

Hehe, even more reason to take the folks on the road again... She hasn't used up all of her good luck yet!

My mom came out to Vegas a few weeks ago. Didn't bet a single coin or chip. Would have paid full price for everything had I not had the room and meals comped.

Non-gamblers give you no dap for this, instead they tsk tsk knowing/imagining what you had to do to be treated so nice. Just saying.

My family has always appreciated all the comps I get, whether it be in AC or LV.
