Day after tomorrow? Better kick it into
high gear..
Been doing my own running around and missed your thread before. REALLY glad Ace Sr. is coming out of it okay. Scary stuff. Have a great time with the folks!

Perdition is pretty clever.
9,2 v 5
I drew an Ace
Dealer had 5, 6, 4, 6
800 swing ughhhhh
Dealer had 5 21s in a row at one point

Didn't this happen last time when you
went from GN to the Aria?
Quote: aceofspadesJust lost 2k

Stop taking the dealers' break cards! Stop it right now!
Just kidding. I thought I might lighten the mood a little. Honestly, you seem to run into a lot of dealer 21s. As I think about it though, I must get my share as well. The difference is that I don't keep track of such things, opting instead to dismiss them as part of the game.

Lol at misprint.

You should have told him his genetic code must have been misprinted...
I remember back when Wheeling Island had a nice double-deck game and decent rules, guy gets dealt 5-6 right after the shuffle and the dealer has an Ace showing and peeks for Blackjack, no dice. I look at the guy and say, "Not often you get to double against an Ace, is it?"
He pretty much called me an idiot for ever doubling against an Ace. I said, "Well, you know the dealer doesn't have it, because he looked. If we get that out of the way, then there's over a 40% chance the dealer has some kind of made hand, or he has a soft total that could turn into crap. In the meantime, you've got better than a 30% chance of drawing to 21 (neither he nor I had any tens, and you know the dealer didn't) and an eight or nine is still a very good 19 or 20.
He basically reiterated his opinion that I'm an idiot, so I offered to buy the double off of him...he was playing $50, which is obviously way more than I was playing, but it's quite a positive play in that situation. He ended up saying no because he might want multiple hits if he got a low card, which is true...if you're not going to make the right play which is to double.
Even ignoring the fact that it is +EV, (There's no double that isn't) it could be an Even-Money decision, and if it were, who doesn't want to have the chance to double against an Ace?
That's why I tend to only play single or double-deck in the rare event I play for fun, (don't care much for BJ) doubling eleven against an Ace is always right...maybe in a bad enough count it wouldn't be, not sure, haven't studied up on Index Plays in forever and a day.
Down 8k
and dinner.

A wise man once stated he used how a person played 18's to determine if they knew what the hell they were doing or not.
Went on tilt betting 500 hand and got 3k back
Trip is -5k

I have zero interest in eating at this point

I was actually wrong about this. I had it in my head that 9s v a 2 was a stand. It turns out it's a stand in Spanish 21, but never in blackjack.
Quote: scottndindyAOS - Can you comment on the renovations to the high limit lounge. Wasn't sure what changed and if it is better/worse.
They added liquor shelves to the bar...added some wall sculpture...changed the felt and seating (it is a brownish studded leather...they removed the black couches and replaced them with some smaller loves ears and chairs...and changed the carpeting---the changes are very subtle
I am glad to hear that Pops is back in the groove. Hope you win a ton.Quote: aceofspadesJust had dinner with the folks...going to relax a bit and then work my way back to even and beyond

What I saw at the Aria must have just been a higher limit floor. Where is this high limit lounge located, and are lookieloos allowed?

They can't legally have a public high limit room that's doesn't allow you to walk in. (Private gaming is a different story, but the entrances to those aren't even available to you or me)
Now, if you're bugging someone there you'll get 86ed, but that doesn't apply to someone who wants to check the place out.
Cannot win a hand

I then inquired as to how many Fortune Spins I had earned
Apparently, one Fortune Spin is earned per 1500 session points
However, the girl informed me that I was not signed up for the promotion...I mentioned that I just was at the MLIFE desk yesterday to print out a new card and was not told I was activated
She apologized and put 1499 points on my card and informed me I needed to earn 1 session point by playing $3
I asked where the nearest machine was and attempted to figure it out
The girl came over to help and I earned my 1 session point
The Fortune Spin screen appeared and the girl told me to press the screen to spin
Around and around it spun
After about 10 seconds it began slowing down
I was hoping for a good spin
Lo and behold it slowed down and down and I could not believe it
It stopped on $5,000 FSP (free slot play)
WOW WOW WOW
How should I play it...?

I don't get it, what is it.

Free Slot Play
Edit: I'm pretty sure most people here would advise you to run it through once on video poker. Vpfree says they have 9/6 JOB $5 spin poker in the high limit room for a start.
Quote: MoosetonHoly crap! Nice job. Was that the best thing it could land on?
Thank you!
Yup - top prize!!!
down and when the 5K is gone cash
out the profit. Do NOT continue to
play once it's gone. You could walk
away with a couple grand.
Quote: EvenBobThey have a 5k slot? Go for it.
What's the EV?
Quote: PlayYourCardsRightCongrats on the 5K FSP ... video poker definitely the way to go. Either that or play the penny slots, one line, one credit :)
If I go with VP, I will have to consult a VP strategy card
Penny slots one line one credit lol at that rate, I wonder if I would be able to use up the 5k before it expires lol
Quote: sodawaterAce do you realize you basically won close to $5000 in EV? Go find a full-pay JOB machine and a strategy card. Make sure you only put exactly $5000 coin in.
I will likely wait until next trip so I can study VP and obtain a strategy card
Quote: aceofspadesI will likely wait until next trip so I can study VP and obtain a strategy card
I wouldn't wait.
You don't know if it'll expire or something. I would use it up before the gaming day's over.
But seriously, just run it on video BJ. Rather take 96% with little variance than 99.54% with high variance. At least, I assume most would. And you already know BJ!
