Just got back from a short trip to Vegas so I thought I would mention a few items.
I stayed at the Bellagio, I love it there and they always give me a very attractive offer. I enjoy there 2 piano bars especially the baccarat bar with upright bass player and piano. I also enjoy the music as they play a lot of old jazz standards in the AM.
They had plenty of $10 craps tables there at all times of the day. They had $10 Black Jack but I did not play there as the $10 and $15 tables were all CSM. The $25 and up were dealt from a shoe. UTH was normally $15.
I also found a bank of Venice Nights and Money Works machines for those that were following that thread. One bank was $1.50 max bet the other $3.00. On a few occasions I found some left wilds so I played the wilds down with nothing to show. If anyone is interested in the location let me know. I also saw another guy checking for them so I assume he read the thread. I never found any left multipliers on Ultimate X and the pay tables are very bad. The other game I found interesting was a $5 Top Dollar Machine. It was a true doubler with one coin paying $4000 and two coins Paying $8000. I played one coin believing I was getting the true payback of the machine with only one coin bet seeing that it was exactly half of the two coin. I however was not able to use the Top Dollar feature with only one coin. Does anyone know if my thinking was correct as I based my assumption just off the pay table on the glass and not figuring the Top Dollar feature. I made money on the machine. I also played a nickel Thundering Buffalo machine it was very generous to me. I have played these before in other locations and have found them to be the same. I found no Quick Hits Platinum at a positive EV there or anywhere else I looked. They have full pay video keno but the VP is not good. For those who need it they also have $1000 2 coin machines in the high limit room as well as multi denom. machine which tops out at $5000. My previous trip I did watch a guy play this. He was very relaxed as if he were playing for nickels. I did not see a hit.
Dining options at the Bellagio are mostly upscale, but Noodles and the Buffet are awesome. Noodles serves Asian dishes and it is moderately priced. The Sweet and Spicy Noodles are my favorite but it is all good. It is tucked away next to the Baccarat Bar behind the Asian Table games. The Buffet is loaded, I had Sushi, as well as Dolphin, Salmon and more than any one person should eat. Here is the advantage play there. Show up at 3:30, you pay the lunch price of $21.99 at 4:00 they bring out the dinner options which include crab legs. Dinner is normally $39.99 so you get dinner for the lunch price.
There are some new things happening since I was there in November. The walkway with pools in front of Ballys is gone. You have to walk down the drive or use the side entrance or Paris to get in. They had $5 craps during the day and evening. The Black Jack was not so good. I saw $10 UTH. I did find a fun VP machine. They had a multi hand nickel Dreamcard machine. The paytable was not great but they offered bonus poker which gives you the extra pays on the 2 pair which proves to be very important in giving you extra playing time due to the extra cost involved for the dreamcard option. It also gives you the extra pay on the 4 of a kind. The Bellagio has the same machine but only offers JOB which makes a big difference. Anyway I play the game because of the increased opportunity to hit a Royal. I did hit one. The lady before me also hit one.
The shuttle to the Gold Coast and Orleans has also been moved to Ballys. It is located all the way in the back by the Johnny Rockets. To get there from the inside you go to the back of the casino and go down the escalator and go to the end of the hall. It runs until Midnight so be sure you on the shuttle back by then or you will be paying for a cab. If you take the shuttle to the Gold Coast you can walk across to the Palms. The Palms has great video keno and VP as well very attractive scenery in the evening.
They have torn up the front of the Monte Carlo and NYNY. There is a temporary sidewalk and the entrance to NYNY by the sports book is closed. Use the Starbucks.
You can now walk out of Harrahs and into the new Quad. From there you can walk into the New O'Sheas in the Linq. It is basically a bar with bad table games and yes for those of you who must have it, new beer pong tables. From there you can walk directly into the Flamingo. You come in by the buffet which I recommend you do not eat.
The other dining options I used were:
Gilly's in Treasure island for lunch. I had the best chopped salad I have ever had and it was $12 and to big to finish. I also ate much to my cardiologist's dismay at the Carnegie Deli in the Mirage. Huge sandwiches that are very good and a little pricey. If you go there bring a friend and split one sandwich and fries it will be plenty. I recommend it.
I also went to a new place. It was called the Mandarin Oriental. It was hard to find and tucked back in somewhere around the City Center. Couldn't tell you how to get there. It was Sunday so it was a brunch. The food was awesome, I had crab claws, shrimp, sushi and eggs benedict and slew of other stuff. I did not pay so I did not care but it was very pricey.
In Planet Hollywood I found $5 craps and UTH. Black Jack was not good. I played in the Margaritaville casino at the Flamingo. They had $5 craps and Black Jack. The game is 6-5 but they offer late surrender. They also deal 7 decks out of an 8 deck shoe. The dealers here were very friendly and took their time. I made money without being a pig and ruining it. Read between the lines.
I had a great Day at the Wynn playing VP with a friend whom I was teaching how to play. I hit a Royal as well 5 or 6, 4 of Kind. This is the second Royal I have hit there. The other was on Ultimate X with 4 times multiplier.
I played at the Gold Coast. They had $5 tables in every game and had the proper payouts. The VP and video keno was also very good here.
I played downtown at the Golden Gate. Video Keno was full pay. VP not so good. Black Jack was awful. My last two trips there I had a good time. Now they have CSM and they go as fast as they can and my dealer was not friendly. I stayed 5 minutes and will not go back.
Played at the Plaza. $5 craps and Black Jack. Black Jack was 3-2, no late surrender and was dealt from a shoe. They cut out just over 2 decks. Dealer and other players were fun. I played mostly craps there and got in on two really good rolls. The VP there was as bad as the strip. They also have a sushi restaurant there that was really good and inexpensive.
The rest was just the usual stuff except the weather was great.

I agree with you. Really, really good sandwiches!
