In an other thread someone mentioned a new baccarat variant. Its called "Power Baccarat 98" rules pdf. It offers 2 new bets called "Banker Natural 8" (Banker wins with a natural 8) and "Banker Natural 9" (Banker wins with a natural 9) and player versions of those same bets. It also pays better on some outcomes when it is a "Power Hand" which happens when a die is shaken and shows a 3. (It didn't specify a 6 sided die, but I assumed this in my analysis.)
Here are the player ev's for all the bets based on 8 deck:
Banker -0.009224148714037
Player -0.010995904160731
Tie -0.13625890591204
Nat 9 -0.047586424276678
Nat 8 -0.073727391437436
Pair -0.095953042940995
And here is how often each hand type occurs:
Hand Combinations
Banker Nat. 9 Win 429,522,620,252,160
Banker Nat. 8 Win 383,162,433,871,872
Banker Other Win 1,479,567,512,313,856
Player Nat. 9 Win 429,522,620,252,160
Player Nat. 8 Win 383,162,433,871,872
Player Other Win 1,417,833,228,468,224
Tie 9 or 8 110,025,470,735,104
Tie 0 to 7 365,601,955,738,112
Total 4,998,398,275,503,360

Hand Combinations
Pair 8 or 9 992
Pair Other 5456

Everything is in my google doc

Outside of the Player/bank bets, I see no reason to accept the monsterous HA's of the other bets. Especially Nat 8, pair, and Tie.
Some people need to reimagine their thinking.
