They have added a side bet that combines the players hand with the dealers hand for the best 5 card hand with its own pay off table...What the story? Why just Harrahs owned casinos?
Quote: MrPapagiorgioThinking of playing high-edge, long shot, side bets? Try this fun alternative instead. Simply walk up to the dealer of your favorite game, give them half the bankroll you were going to place on side bets, and then have them take you around back and kick you in the grapes. After it's done, you'll feel much better than you would have if you were playing the side bets all night, and you'll be way ahead too!
Btw Michael, feel free to use the above under "Advice & Stragety > Side Bets". I've checked though the numbers carefully, and the math on this post is 100% correct.

Heh. I'm sure you are being tongue-in-cheek here, Mr. PG, but I have to play devil's advocate with you. Some of the low-ish edge side bets, like Match the Dealer or Progressive Pai Gow poker, are very fun for some people and I have seen it really make people's night (or year, in the case of the progressive) when they hit it. Should you play it continuously? Probably not, but a small or even large bet once in a while is not ill-advised.
Also, what I thought you were going to say was take half your bankroll and put it on an even-money wager. That's would be an even better (and less painful) alternative!
