My local casino plays 7-7 as thier house way, when they have non pairing tens with a pair of sevens. My question is, would it be better for the house to play nothing pair or 7-7 ? If so, what is the diffrence in house advantage on the hand ?

The house is going for the win by playing it that way. While 7-7 loses to 9-Gong or even potentially 7-8, it's still a stronger play than putting nothing up. The only way the house wins with nothing is if the player has nothing, and then the player still could have a stronger pair.

I don't have numbers to back this up, but from my experience, houses like to balance before playing nothing.

My pai gow calculator was made for questions like this. It shows playing 7-7 has an EV 6% higher.

As a rough rule of thumb, give any pair 12 points. So you have 12+0=12 or 7+7=14. Go with the 14 points.
