I’d rather have to be a lucky player than good one.

I agree. This is a good read: A Bloomberg Business Week article on the Croatian team(s) that won a lot of money at Roulette, beginning about 19 years ago, complete with recent interviews.
So many better men, a few of them friends, are dead. And a thousand thousand slimy things live on, and so do I.

"The study also offered recommendations for how casinos could fight back: Shallower wheels. Smooth, low metal dividers between the number pockets. Or no dividers at all, only scalloped grooves for the ball to settle into. These design features increased the time a ball spent in the hard-to-predict second phase of its orbit, hopping around the pockets in such chaotic fashion that even a supercomputer couldn’t work out where it was headed."
I’d rather have to be a lucky player than good one.
