Flushed began a field trial at the Stratosphere on February 2, 2021. Briefly, the dealer will deal cards from a 52-card deck until a flush is reached. The player may bet on how many cards this will take, the suit & color of the flush, and poker value of the flush.

The game offers some bets with a house edge under 3% and is a very slow deal. I could see players looking to stretch a small gambling budget a long time playing it.

For all the rules and analysis, please see my new page on Flushed.

The question for the poll is would you play Flushed, according to the rack card rules (as opposed to how they are, I would say incorrectly, dealing the game at the Stratosphere)?

So, the obvious question is "what is the maximum number of cards that will be dealt in any round?" I like this question because its answer is an application of the pigeon hole principle. I once heard an hour long talk at the University of Arizona (when I was a grad student) devoted entirely to the answer.

I can’t imagine any scenario where I end up at the Strat. That said, if I’m there or another casino offering this, I’d likely cash in $100 and min bet for 30 mins to see how it goes. I’m assuming the min bet is no more than $10. I’d only bet the 2% edge spot. That said, If they insist on dealing incorrectly I’d camp out and bet the 0% edge bet trying to churn comps.

Mike—when speaking to the floor did you note that as dealt there’s no house edge on certain bets or was the point limited to “this isn’t what the rack card says”? I think the floor’s comments were unprofessional in either case but she might have been slightly more willing to listen if she appreciated that it affected the bottom line. Of course, she probably still would have blown you off. The “it’s just words” line is an annoying response.
If anyone gives you 10,000 to 1 on anything, you take it. If John Mellencamp ever wins an Oscar, I am going to be a very rich dude.

Is the straight flush a legal bet? HE greater than 25%? Wasn't there some law in NV about not exceeding 25% HE? Or was that just for machines?

I agree that the game looks like it could catch on. Not sure when you bet, but would be RIDICULOUSLY 'hole cardable' if you would just bet the suit on the first card to be dealt. I'm guessing the cards are not even in the dealers hands until after all bets are made?

Just for machines, according to the Nevada Gaming Regulations.

The argument lasted about ten minutes. The floor-woman kept saying the game was like roulette, especially in comparison to the red and black bets. I tried to explain that red and black bets can pay even money in roulette and have a house edge because of the zeroes. Then I quoted the rule card, which says, "The house edge is the number 17," and tried to explain that rule was there to give the house an edge on the red and black bets. She said something, "Those are just words and not how we were trained to deal the game." I wanted to say that the these "words" are a contract and a player would have a just cause to complain if the casino didn't abide them, but she was already so annoyed with me that I held back. She also didn't seem to understand any of my arguments.

She works in a casino, why would she have
any understanding of how the games work.
That's like assuming a secretary knows how
her typewriter works. She has no idea.
